Got a mild virus 10yo, diddn't recover. Hoping for a cure by retirement. Read way too many papers #mecfs Name as people assume I am as good as shown here.

@mecfsskeptic From memory, >half the HPV linked cancers are nowhere near the cervix, and around a third in people with no cervix. Vaccination works great for HPV.

1) Bit confused by this news. It seems to be based on a pilot study of 30 patients, published a couple of years ago. Not sure why it is being hyped now. The account that wrote it, Smart Science, looks like it mostly makes dramatic (AI-generated?) posts

HPV can now be completely eliminated using light-activated therapy: A special gel is applied to the cervix and absorbed by HPV-infected cells. After about 4 hours, red light activates it, creating molecules that destroy the abnormal cells while mostly sparing healthy tissue.

@me_dealwithme Literally 40+ years. My last several interactions with doctors involved them explicitly refusing to read the guidelines on ME/CFS by NICE, or consult with anyone who has any skill.

I would be interested to know when people last saw a specialist. For me it’s been over 10 yrs. Can well people imagine a life where you’re so disabled you can’t work, spend most days bedbound, have no quality of life & you don’t have a dr monitoring your condition? #MEAwareness

@TomKindlon Now I want to see filtered patient sera. Is the relevant bit which causes issues >1000nm, >100nm, ... Nailing down this factor might enable a treatment to block this. (Simplifying a lot)

@toy59496 @GilmourSpace A failure is a failure. First three SpaceX launches failed. Starship also had a lot of failures even before launch one. First launch success is damn rare, and discounting the effect of luck on success is also a problem. First launch is very very hard.

Congratulations on your first attempt Gilmour Space. I read the frenetic valuations of 1 billion after your launch. I think it needs to be said that rocket technology is now 80 years old and while an explosion during ascent would be expected being unable to maintain thrust over a few metres from the launch pad is a modest performance. I think the PR is commendable in trying to push the mission but those that are more technical among us are a little underwhelmed. SpaceX has normalised fast turnover and repeated rocket failures but at the back end they have the industrial capacity to learn and repeat. They are also not being held back by a myopic government who has taken you through the ringer with bureaucracy. SpaceX were also attempting something new by having complex recovery whereas this is just a standard non reusable rocket which have been sent into orbit since the 1950s. If you can get a billion dollar valuation with that then I am sure I can build something better.

TestFlight1 — Liftoff 🚀 Today, Eris became the first #AustralianMade orbital rocket to launch from Australian soil — ~14s of flight, 23s engine burn. Big step for 🇦🇺 launch capability. Team safe, data in hand, eyes on TestFlight 2. (More pics and vids to come from the media.)

@GemzME @meactionscot @MEActNetUK I am as yet unsure as to the particular approach that is intended to be taken. At the moment nothing has happened except admission and non supply of COVID jab. Thanks.

Well. In the taxi to the mental hospital with a doctor that is sure that mental health is the primary driver of my CFS. #mecfs Lomond ward. Stratheden. For extra fun I mislaid my credit cards. Two day, up to twenty eight day confinement. If no posts in two days, call them.

So if my math is right, we're 1/2 on reuse of rocket boosters returned via parachutes and 2/2 on reuse of rocket boosters using propulsive landing (3/3 if we count suborbital rockets like New Shepard). Weird how that happens huh.

Quite right that @ABridgen has been expelled for his extremist anti-vax propaganda. As for the UK consultant cardiologist he cites as saying Covid vaccines are the biggest crime against humanity since the Holocaust - well, @gmcuk, are you going to act? 🤷‍♀️ theguardian.com/politics/2023/…

@healingfromlc @TomKindlon Many, many papers for example include various things patients mostly don't care about as symptoms as they're easily measured (weight, for example), but fail utterly to collect the bits that actually matter. (have you been able to resume work/activities/caring responsibilities)

@healingfromlc @TomKindlon Ish. Larger is only one aspect. If, for example, you are using traditional mental health scores, and asking fatigued people 'do you feel tired all the time' (a usual question in MH tests designed for healthy people) you can't large N your way out of it.

@keithgeraghty I think long covid and long vax (c19 vax injury) are the same thing. The problem is viral persistence of the spike protein. If @NIH @RobertKennedyJr would focus on treatments to obliterate the spike, pwLC & pwLV would recover.

One of my first clients in clinical practice training, unexplained fatigue with Long-Covid. I was asked "when does Long-covid become ME/CFS - or is Long-Covid the same as ME/CFS" - I think that is a fascinating question and I know there has been some papers on this subject, but such a simple question may not be simple to answer! What are your thoughts?

@defeatpostcovid There are reasonable exhortations to do various things that are backed by varying amounts of evidence, or gut feelings. Nobodies done the sort of science that can back these up with numbers you can take to governments or HR departments and say '40% more people remain in work

There’s a lot that’s awful about living with post-exertional malaise, but one of the awful things is the mistrust people develop in their body’s capability. So it’s perplexing when I see people living with ME encouraged to disregard how they feel. Just seems to compound mistrust.

@defeatpostcovid @sunsopeningband principle help. But we don't know. Collecting this data pretty much needs a good-sized sample of people tracking HRV and all the other things for a year or so 24*7. It could mitigate the worst of this illness. #mecfs

@defeatpostcovid @sunsopeningband Knowing what would trigger worsening is basically 100% unresearched at this point. There is nearly no science someone can rely on, or accessible test that will let you know you've gone too far, and risk PEM the next day. HR, lactate levels, HRV, cranial bloodflow, all might in
