@Bakari_Sellers Folks saying “give the $ back to the states,” but really if it’s going under state control the tax $ should go directly to the states via state taxes, right? States that are net recipients of fed $ will be screwed. CA/NY/MA/etc won’t be funding their schools.

The plural of ‘attorney general’ is ‘attorneys general.’ This is because ‘attorney’ is the noun and ‘general’ is the adjective. It’s not an attorney that’s a general in the military. It’s an attorney with the most general jurisdiction.

Because brick was more expensive and many of these homes were built in tornado alley. Spending a lot of money on brick just to have a storm tear it apart struck many people as a waste of money.
Adam_Bateman@Adam_Bateman_UK

@wai0937 @SoDuTw Why are American homes built out of easily flammable building materials?? Why not stone or brick, or some other less or non flammable materials??

Wow! Take a look at this fake news story about President Trump by NPR’s @Quilawrence! You cannot trust any election coverage by NPR this election season. Did you know that @keprettybird Kerstin Emhoff’s (the ex wife of Kamala Harris’s husband @DouglasEmhoff) is the CEO of several businesses, including Ventureland @Venture_land and Pretty Bird @PRETTYBIRDPIC, which appear to have been contracted out by the @DNC, @KamalaHarris’s 2024 Presidential campaign, and Joe Biden’s campaign for media production services, shares an office complex location with @NPRWest NPR’s West Coast Headquarters in Culver City, California? Ventureland and Pretty Bird, as you can see below, share an office lot sign and complex with NPR which has been producing glowing coverage of Kamala Harris, Tim Walz, and Doug Emhoff. Perhaps this is why NPR is so in the tank for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz and why they are speaking fake news stories about President Trump and his campaign! @Kasparov63 There’s nothing wrong with being proud of the good bits of your cultural background, as long as you also acknowledge the bad bits. The problems come when you do the first but not the second, or when you assume your culture has a monopoly on the first.

Amazing. This is what we have given up for moral equivalence under the name of multiculturalism or inclusion. Do not be ashamed of the values that created the modern world and do not go backwards.
Andrew A. Michta@andrewmichta

In the course of my library research at @HooverInst today I found the 1962 Declaration of Paris issued by the Atlantic Convention of @NATO Nations meeting held in January 1962. Here is the key passage (verbatim): “The Atlantic peoples have inherited a magnificent civilization whose origins include the early achievements of the Near East, the classical beauty of Greece, the juridical sagacity of Rome, the spiritual power of our religious traditions and the humanism of the Renaissance. Its latest flowering, the discoveries of modern science, allows an extraordinary mastery of the forces of nature. (…) Thanks to that civilization and to the common characteristics with which it stamps the development of peoples participating in it, the nations of the West do in fact constitute a powerful cultural and moral community.” Question: Some six decades later, would you find an expression of such profound admiration, self-confidence and pride in today's pronouncements about what the West indeed stands for?

Many followers not familiar with the military are asking me “so what’s the big deal about a command sergeant major?” Walz joined at 18 as a private. Rose through the NCO (sergeant) ranks, each requiring extreme competence at increasingly demanding jobs with more people & responsibility at every rank. When you reach “Master Sergeant” you are selected to serve as a First Sergeant (1SG) of a unit…if you’re good enough. Then, those 1SGTs compete for selection to Sergeant Major. Only the best Sergeant Majors are selected for Command Sergeant Major (CSM) billets. CSMs serve as the senior enlisted person in the unit and the advisor to Commanders at battalion and above. Having served with dozens of CSMs as my unit & command “battle buddy” I will attest they were all awesome. They know what they’re doing. They uphold standards. They speak their minds to all ranks (private to generals). They’re not afraid of getting bad news because they know how to fix things when they go wrong. And they serve the command (their commander and their soldiers) with a selfless integrity and a complete dedication. During social events and informal occasions, they’re usually a whole bunch of fun. And they always have great stories. But they’re always professional. So, those are my thoughts on Command Sergeants Major. While I don’t know the details of @GovTimWalz career wearing the cloth of our country, just the fact that he volunteered to serve and wore the CSM rank tells me a lot about him.

I like, & am inspired by, Tim Walz, Kamala Harris's VP pick. He has military experience, as a SGT/NCO. Those of us who served know that it's the NCOs that make it all work. He was a HS social studies teacher & football coach. He's direct, plain-spoken, & an honest, honorable man.
