The events of Saturday night were horrifying. It is difficult to believe that this is the third time President Trump has faced an assassination attempt. I am thankful for the many law enforcement officers who responded, in particular those who secured the shooter before he could harm the president or anyone else at the event. Political violence is never the answer, and it must end.

@JohnKasich Trump hasn't done that once in 10 years. Why would he bother starting now? Division is what keeps him in power. Also, the high from the Olympic win was short lived after that fiasco in the locker room. But at least the women's hockey team kept their dignity.

The President has a real opportunity at the State of the Union: Bring the country together. Remind us who we are. We saw it for brief moments recently celebrating Olympic medal wins by Team USA. Politics disappeared and we were simply Americans cheering together. We need more of that.
