This is cool - (kind of) shared billing with the mighty @PamAyres - one of my poetic heroes & an inspirational poet for so many lovers of wit, rhyme & rhythm. I suspect her book might sell a few more copies than mine!

@boys_nicholas @Telegraph @lfg_uk Rochdale Town Hall (pictured during restoration) is astonishing, inside and out - incredible level of detail. Rylands Library in Manchester is another favourite & my adopted city of Chester has a beautiful Town Hall, which would not look too out of place in Florence.

Where does one start with the Victorians? With overflowing confidence & ambition, they covered the country in town halls, terraced housing, church spires & civic pride. The C20th architecture & town-making that followed was less of a decline than a catastrophe in comparison….

As I was horrified by the Foster & Partners attempt at redesigning #OldTrafford as a UAE Airport, I had a go myself. I wanted something that matched its location and reflected the architecture of the world’s first industrial city. Thoughts? #mufc #oldtrafford #stadiumdesign

Andrew could be charged at any point. The moment he is ALL UK reporting MUST stop. Anything that could prejudice a jury must stop - including posts on social media. But international outlets can & will carry on. The appearance of a cover-up is inevitable 5/

PREDICTION: If Andrew is charged (no assumption of guilt etc), we are going to have a crisis of both the press & judiciary. In Britain, it is an offence to publish ANY info on defendant beyond bare facts. But! US outlets can print whatever they like… 1/

Donald Trump just told world leaders at Davos that you see no wind farms in China, because China “is too smart” to generate power in that way, and is simply selling the turbines to the rest of the world. This is not strictly true! Wind farms currently provide approximately 13% to 14% of China's total electricity. When combined with solar, these green sources now account for over 22% of the country's total power consumption.

@GroomB takes me straight back to being taken there by my mum as a youngster - she loved that market, a lot more than I did! But on reflection it was unique & the indoor market was (and is) beautiful 🙂
