@dcinsb I'd encourage you to research California Democratic politics, if you don’t think there are leaders and influencers who contribute to which candidates receive support and funding. And, honestly? That's not a crazy concept, and it's pretty common across politics.

The problem with California Dems, and the leaders of the apparatus, is that they clearly knew Swalwell was a known sex offender. And folks still endorsed him, as if their closer staff wouldn't have warned them of the rumors. The so-called "electability" convo needs to go.

And, to clarify, I don't think the CA golden boy is a sex offender. I just think he's made a slew of poor decisions that haven't come out yet. There's only one CA Dem whose entire past has been laid bare for the world, litigated and re-litigated for no less than seven years.

I still think back to how those CA leaders and donors saw the same reality before them that we all saw: Trump or Harris. And they still turned their noses, crossed their fingers, dragged their feet, whispered to the press. The existential threat wasn't really a threat for them.

@FishBanc I guess I don't really see the 3D chess with his comments. I think he's the only 2028 contender who confidently acknowledges Harris's place in a party where influencers and donors would prefer she moved on. He doesn't take the bait from folks who want to pile on her.

@WriterWarrior defended. When he says that it is a choice *not to* say a reason for why she *should* run because he would see that as detrimental to his chances.

If you are a candidate or a supporter referring to someone's "right to run" it's a terrible sign for that someone. No one wants that endorsement. No one should ever be elected President for what THEY deserve, but rather, for what those they serve deserve. Pritzker knows this.

I have spent my entire career reporting on sexual misconduct by politicians. The barrier to publication anywhere with good lawyers is very, very high. Getting women to speak and share personal records and acquire corroboration from friends and colleagues is extremely difficult.

The arrogance required to run for public office in 2026 when you have a checkered past...
