@zpookie333 @synblinkerfluid After not very long you don't even notice anymore. In underpowered cars it helps a lot so you don't have to wait 2 seconds between mashing it and the transmission finally picking a gear.

It’s always the same story. “I’d buy a new wagon” “I’d buy a new compact pickup” “I’d buy this if it was a manual” When a company finally does, it’s all: “That’s not what I wanted.” “It’s too expensive.” “It doesn’t have 500hp and RWD.” “It doesn’t come in brown.”

@will_whang Yah. Apparently there's an issue where if you place the inductor for the power supply the wrong way around it causes instability. So they commissioned a polarized SMD inductor. There's a whole breakdown on page 7 of the design guide.

@PaulBunyan1976 @uubzu They have immunity from being sued for doing their jobs. If they're doing something they should know they shouldn't, they don't get immunity. Like that family court judge who personally led the seizure in a divorce case.

@flaminhottweets @Duderichy Not to put words in his mouth but it probably helps a lot because he's helping prevent it from happening to anyone else instead of just wallowing in grief.

@Duderichy Isn't that like sort of traumatic to constantly be thinking of how people could die from faulty guardrails? Like obviously a very cool thing he does but idk how it could be healthy for him

@bee_fumo The punishment is already harsh enough, as is enforcement. The problem is MADD never thinks it's enough, and they get to say "Oh so you want drunk driving" if you publicly disagree with them

The reality is if you want to curb a behavior the solution is always "harsher punishment + presence of the law" not automated systems, not legally just punish things. You want to stop people from doing shit in an area? Then add a few more police groups in that area and actually punish the ones who break the law.

Every new car in the U.S. will be required by law to have tech that puts constant surveillance on the driver by 2027. AI in your car will determine if you're sober and fit to drive, automatically turning off the vehicle if it determines you're a danger on the road.

@NerdHerder9001 @MrJohnMBartlett @StephenFleming You're limited to a max charge of 500 grams in the US, which limits you basically to refrigerators and small appliances. A typical home air conditioner takes ~6000 grams of refrigerant.

Learning about R-454b refrigerant (since R-410A and good old R-22 are illegal now). The new stuff is more toxic, more flammable, and occasionally explosive, but at least it’s less efficient. 😳

@The_Dude_512 @JasonBassler1 Regular video cameras vs AI facial recognition, license plate reading, car fingerprinting all feeding into one central database that creates a detailed history of where literally everyone has been. Meanwhile putting a GPS tracker on someone's car requires a warrant

Friends and loyal fans of Buc‑ee’s, I hate to break it to you… but I’ve now received multiple independent reports from followers across Texas, the Midwest, and the Deep South that Buc‑ee’s is using Flock cameras. No official receipts, just pics like this coming in 👇

@phortuenti @hackerfantastic There's a difference between acknowledging that people are going to see you in public and you may be incidentally filmed, and a nationwide network of AI powered cameras that keeps a record using ALPR and facial recognition. The automation and aggregation makes it a violation

@hackerfantastic There's no "reasonable expectation of privacy" in public spaces. On the flip side, this is why we are allowed to record cops and do 1st amendment audits.

Enshittification is a popular topic now — we all see it, we all hate it — but has anyone figured out how we get out of this death spiral? What’s the move? Do we all need to bail on a business the second it begins?

@MadScientist_42 @OzarkHillMan @XJosh You're arguing in bad faith my guy. You're talking about devices that can act like jammers when used improperly, I'm talking about devices intended to be used as jammers. Intentionally causing interference to otherwise legal comms is it's own thing and still illegal

Depends on the jammer. For example, it's legal to own a handie-talking for Children's band. IF, say, for example, you were to turn it on, and duct-tape the transmit button on said talkie, it will effectively jam everything that is not of a stronger signal level than the talkie for it's range. Legal to own. TECHNICALLY Legal to misuse that way. YOUR problem is that you believe you know what the law actually IS and have it wrong. ;)

@churchable75 @TheCatholicEngr @KennethCassel It's all fun and games until a vendor cold calls you after daring to just visit their website. I clicked the link to their site, saw it wasn't what I wanted, closed the tab, and 15 minutes later my phone rings. Never talked to them before in my life

@OzarkHillMan @XJosh It's illegal to sell, operate, possess, or even market a jammer federally so idk what your sources are. It's not like it's some obscure law that takes more than 30 seconds to look up.

@a_man_in_red Not until we get away from metal based batteries. The energy in a battery may be equivalent to a few gallons of gas, but a Class D metal fire is way harder to extinguish than a Class B gas fire.

@KingK1128 @redpilldispensr Because every year it's a different flu. And every year the flu vaccine is their "best guess" of which strains are going to be the most prevalent each year. Which is coincidentally great for a recurring revenue stream.
