This is the most beautiful golf hole in the world. I don’t make many absolute, superlative statements about golf courses or golf holes, but for the 16th at Cypress Point, I can make an exception. In fact, for a golfer, a look out over this hole might be the most beautiful view on planet earth. #WalkerCupWeek

Ok, this is something: Michael Busch is the 3rd Cubs player with a 3-HR game against the Cardinals. All 3 did it on Independence Day: Moises Alou on July 4, 2003 and Hank Leiber on July 4, 1939. C'mon.

We'll always remember 2024. What an incredible year for Pinehurst. To commemorate this great year on New Year's Eve, let's do a giveaway. Repost this for a chance for you and one guest to spend two nights at Pinehurst and play Pinehurst No. 2 - site of the 2024 U.S. Open - and Tom Doak's Pinehurst No. 10.

In tribute to Gordon Lightfoot, tonight's Blue Wahoos game notes headlines match the meter and rhyme of "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald"

Still in Disbelief - IU Football 2026 Champions!
Other than the two hours in the middle of the round where I forgot how to play golf, it was a spectacular day on the stunningly beautiful Forest Highlands Canyon course. Hard to think of a tee shot I like more than this one at the 9th.

Let’s celebrate the reopening of Pinehurst No. 8. RT this for a chance at a round for you and a guest on No. 8 and The Cradle. And, with No. 8 being our Centennial Course (see the "100?"), we’ll toss in a $100 gift card for each of you to use in the golf shop.

@ScoringChanges The probability is what I have an issue with. How sure does the scorer have to be? A bad hop is not probable, but it could happen. Just seems too subjective to me in general and especially when video replay isn't available.

We get a lot of college plays (baseball and softball) sent to us that we would rather not get into, but we did get an interesting one and an egregious one, so this thread will present both since we have quite a few folks that also might score softball (1)

@ScoringChanges The difference to me is this is a dead-ball situation. The ball didn't reach the fielder to start the sequence the scorer is supposed to evaluate.

@a2nitwit But as a scorer, you are asked MANY times to judge what would have happened. That's the basic premise of a fielding error ... "well, she would have thrown her out if she didn't bobble it". So I'd argue that you absolutely can judge this, and that you probably should.

@ScoringChanges My view as a softball scorer is I cannot judge with 100 percent certainty (nor should I be expected to) what would have happened had the ball not hit the runner. So I will always call this a hit like it is in baseball.

if that's the case, then you change the batter with a fielder's choice and the runner is out (putout to the nearest fielder). It's rule 14.3.7, and it's attached. On this play, the batter should not be credited with a hit. (4)

@Gustbra My only trip there was for a DH vs. Angels. @RodCarew_29 and Don Baylor hit back-to-back triples off Wayne Nordhagen (position player) in 9th inning of game 2.
