@medi0 @Rothmus They'd never use those nukes to defend Germany, or any other European country. De Gaulle knew this

@apathymachine @Rothmus Deterrence against Iran was never a thing. Deterrence vs USSR was. But now that Putler is a friend of POTUS (per POTUS' words), that "protection against Russia" is very elusive. And it's about nukes, not some funny bases with a handful of troops.

I have great respect for the German people, but their government’s policies are increasingly problematic. I understand Germany faces serious economic challenges and lacks a clear path out of them. But their repeated efforts to shift costs onto American taxpayers are unsustainable, whether through chronic under-spending on NATO or by keeping pharmaceutical prices artificially low and effectively subsidized by the US. At some point, Germany (and Europe more broadly) will have to pay up. American taxpayers and patients effectively subsidize pharma innovation for the entire world. And while Germany and other nations enjoy artificially low prices, Americans bear the highest costs by far. Instead, the chancellor chose to publicly criticize the United States even amid delicate ceasefires and ongoing negotiations with Iran. Now President Trump is threatening to limit America’s defense commitment to Germany. It’s unfortunately hard to see this ending well for anyone involved.

>America funds the world’s pharmaceutical innovation >Europe forces drug companies to slash prices >pharma raises prices on Americans to cover the losses Same medicine. Often 3x more expensive in the US than in Europe. Europe still refuses to pay fair prices, effectively making Americans subsidize their healthcare. Only U.S. companies are truly funding new drug development. Europe free-rides. Solution: Section 301. The USTR would investigate and respond to these unfair foreign practices hurting American patients and innovation.

Incredible how pro-Putin Westerners insisted Putin was never going to invade Ukraine, and we all had to change our "media consumption habits" if he did not invade, and then he did invade, and they did zero introspection.

@Atlanter_KASFAN @AmirAminiMD How is becoming a target for Iran, or whatever country the USA decides to bomb, a benefit for Germany? They're useless cowards, and work directly for Putin these days

@AmirAminiMD What drugs are you using? You are just a Trump enemy right? Of course it’s a loss for Germany. And it’s one more reason to change our Administration as soon as possible. Merz is the biggest idiot ever.

@Rothmus It is not our responsibility to subsidize their bad decisions with American tax dollars. They should be mostly responsible for their own security. We can help out if needed, but the gravy train needs to end.

@medi0 @Rothmus Right now the only reason Germany would even be considered a target by Iran, is because of the assistance provided to the USA, and what do we even get for it? Throw the bums out

@Rothmus US morons need to realize that US bases is a way to project US power more than they are to protect anyone. The "US protection" of the Arab states, packed with US bases, has been particularly "remarkable". A lot of stuff in ME won't be operational if Germany shuts down Ramstein.

@Mr_Alex_Graham @Rothmus @LibertyCappy Federal government of Canada needs to be abolished. It's a failed experiment. There isn't even free trade between provinces, and most of the country leeches off Quebec and Alberta. Time to put an end to that undemocratic mess

Imagine the economic problems they will face when they pull their full weight. That’s the part that pisses me off. We supplement every Euro nations defense then the spit on us and claim they don’t need us. Fine pay your own way. Sell your stuff elsewhere, develop and build your own weapons, defend your own countries. USA Out 🫡

@Rothmus Why? The bases and investment is a waste of money. Germany isn’t an ally, their people are racist against Americans, and Germany is building their forces and “need no one”. So why?

President Trump should pool all the troops from Germany/Europe. For weeks I have been told on X and FB by German/European citizens that America are occupiers and they need to leave their sovereign countries. They are not only ungrateful, but they blame USA for their poor governance and political decisions.

German politicians are determined to bite the hand that feeds them. @realDonaldTrump is not the kind of leader who will put up with it. The US has gone into debt feeding the EU economy. Pulling out troops from Germany is the 1st step of economic disengagement. Pay for your own defense Germany

I would love for the USA to negotiate a massive military base deal with Poland in secret, then give Germany one single opportunity to get their act together. When they don't (which is inevitable), just start moving assets to Poland without any fanfare at all until one day the German bases have a quiet closing ceremony for the last soldiers to fly to Poland before handing the keys back to the local mayor.
