@EwanMacKenna So "Trump & Israel".. As you say are to blame for the lower prices in Spain as well as the high prices here 🤔??

I sense the protests are losing support for five reasons... 1. The rationale. Lower taxes now but no protests when higher taxes. 2. The nefarious actors hijacking this. 3. The swathes of support for the reasons for the prices hikes (Trump and Israel). 4. Hurting ordinary people who also have bills and jobs, by targeting the wrong places. 5. There's a fair sense the demands are "give us money", the rest don't matter. Again I'm not against them, in principle, and understand much of it, but even as somewhat of an anarchist I'm reluctant to jump on this as it's far from black and white.

This post is getting great traction. Comes across as sensible stuff. In reality, it is ill thought out nonsense!

So let's address the human security of our people(s). That is multi faceted and takes a far broader and deeper view of "national security ". Let's address environmental security, food security, political security, housing etc etc. Ireland needs to take more responsibility.
Neale Richmond@nealerichmond

I think it’s clear we need to radically increase our defensive capabilities. We can do this and debate this without going down the rabbit holes of neutrality, the military industrial complex or western imperialism. The security of our people and our economy matters.

So let’s say we have a peace process in Gaza & we are asked to be part of a multinational force but Russia vetoes a UN resolution. Then you say we should decline to be involved despite all we say about our sympathy for the plight of Gazans. It should be our decision not Putin’s.
patrick bresnihan@PBresnihan

The Triple Lock dates to the 1960 Defence Act (not Nice II), ensuring that Irish defence forces would only be deployed overseas on UN mandated peacekeeping missions. The UN was under pressure then too, and the Cold War was raging, but our leaders had some courage.

@danobrien20 This trend somewhat mirrors the trend in the unemployment. And I am guessing it isn't entirely coincidental.

Just listened to a report on radio about school closures. Amazingly, no mention of the driver of this - the collapse in births over the past 15 years.

The latest Global Inequality Report from @OxfamIreland released this week highlights how extreme wealth is becoming even more concentrated among the very richest – Some of the key findings from the report are: - Billionaire wealth jumped by over 16 % in 2025, reaching a record $18.3 trillion – an 81 % increase since 2020. - Billionaires are now over 4,000× more likely to hold political office than the average person. - The wealth gained by the world’s richest in the last year could have given everyone on Earth a meaningful cash amount and still left billionaires richer. - The 12 richest billionaires hold more wealth than the poorest half of humanity combined. This isn’t just about money. The report shows how extreme wealth shapes politics, media, climate decisions, and the everyday lives of millions of people. If we are to work towards a more fair, just and sustainable world this needs to change: oxfam.org.uk/get-involved/c…

In the midst of the Croke park drama yesterday I actually did forget to post this. Also did find Leinster a bit tougher, not as many stand out options and very little between a lot of lads at a similar standard. Jugger.

Make no mistake about it, Sky Sports love it when Man United are in disarray. Its good for business. They even have renamed today's 7pm newslot "Man United sack Amorim". GN clearly wants good things for the club but he is speaking like a fan more than analyst here!

🗣️ "It's a poor reflection on everybody" 🗣️ "When you turn on your bosses you're not going to keep your job for long" Gary Neville reflects on the sacking of Ruben Amorim at Manchester United and how the relationship with the hierarchy may have impacted the decision 🔴

We have between 5 & 8 people who will be completing 12 months training with our sister company. Part of that course will be a placement with a team(s) for analysis of GAA. If your involved or know a club who would be interested in a free student for 2026 DM RT appreciated
