The Calgary Zoo brought in a French-speaking trainer to help its newest polar bear, Yelle, settle in after arriving from a Quebec zoo where he was trained entirely in French. Staff are now gradually teaching the 20-year-old bear English cues.

This is CRAZY The state of Virginia is making people pay taxes on their cars, trailers, campers, RVs and boats EVERY YEAR based on their value Every year you must again pay taxes on your vehicles, even if they’re paid off - They give you an assessed value - Then there is a rate per hundred dollars that you pay - This year's rate is $2.35 per hundred dollars of the piece of property that you own - Then they charge you per month that you own that item For this woman to own her own cars in the state of Virginia this year, she was billed $2,104.45 (She shows the bill as proof) This is separate from registration fees and tags. “This bill right here is specifically for owning a car or camper trailer, whatever, in the state of Virginia.” Taxes in America are out of control

@awintory I was always a fan of when Horner kind of went off the beaten track. His scores for Commando (all those steel drums) and Sneakers (streaked with melancholy) are among my favorites.
And then of course there was Krull... :-)

10 years ago today we lost James Horner. He was a man-out-of-time in his music, waving the flag to an era that's largely passed us by.
My score to Towerborne was an homage to this sorely missed hero, whose musical optimism always made me feel like things were going to be ok.
