People keep complaining about @IndiGo6E ground handling so here’s my experience today at Khajuraho airport. Three check in counters open & manned but two refuse to accept passengers. Every one is directed to one counter manned by a trainee. As I am checking in I ask the counter supervisor why the other counters won’t accept passengers. “They are only for fast forward.” Me: I thought there was no fast forward any longer! “It’s not on the site but we do have it” Me: What do you get in fast forward? “You get priority baggage handling and priority boarding.” Me: If I had known I would have taken it. “You can still take it.” I hand over my credit card. He swipes it. As the luggage is being tagged I notice there is. no Fast Forward tag and ask about it. “ We stopped doing priority baggage handling for Fast Forward. It only gives you priority check in. “ But I had already checked in. I wouldn’t have taken it if you hadn’t told me about priority baggage handling . “I never said priority baggage handling.” Yes you did . I heard you. “Okay at least you can board any time you like.” I ask for the manager. The supervisor insists he never said anything about baggage handling. Manager: “I will not accept that my staff are lying.” But you think I am lying? He shrugs. The sum of money is small & the issue is minor. But given how much we have heard about the culture of lying in @indigo , firing one gora scapegoat may not be enough. The rot has infected the culture

I spent a whole day visiting the Seattle daycares featured in my @NRO article with @abigailandwords about inexplicable spending by @waDCYF . Most did not answer when I knocked. If there were children inside, thick curtains blocked any natural sunlight for them. Neighbors were unaware of daycares a one-minute walk away. Confused residents said that they had no knowledge of a daycare at their address, to which Washington State paid nearly $500,000 last year. WA State Attorney General Nick Brown said that he would focus on prosecuting journalism like this instead of investigating welfare fraud. The State Auditor stated that DCYF records are so bad that millions of dollars over the past four years have been un-auditable. This violates the terms of their federal funding. It opens: The “main object” of the Citizenship Clause was to grant citizenship to freed slaves and their children, whose allegiance to the United States had generally been established through generations of parental domicile. By contrast, aliens who are just passing through the United States, and those who cross our borders illegally, lack ties of allegiance and do not obtain the “priceless and profound gift” of citizenship for their children. To receive citizenship under the Clause, a person must be both born “in the United States” and “subject to the jurisdiction thereof…” That language grants citizenship to children “completely subject” to the United States’ “political jurisdiction.” Children of temporarily present or illegal aliens do not qualify because their parents are not domiciled in, and thus do not owe the requisite allegiance to, the United States. Temporarily present aliens are by definition not domiciled here, while illegal aliens lack the legal capacity to form such a domicile.
