The clip shows the April/May 2018 attack on Mike Hodge (sometimes reported as Michael Hodge), the British owner of Marakele Predator Centre in South Africa. He was mauled by a male lion named Shamba (which he had hand-raised from a cub) while entering the enclosure to check on a strange smell.
Tourists captured the incident on video, which shows the lion chasing, pouncing, and dragging him toward bushes before staff intervened by shooting the animal dead to save him.Hodge survived with serious neck and jaw injuries and was treated in a Johannesburg hospital.
