After transplanting, we had to replace some seedlings that were damaged due to errors during the transplanting process. When we finished the replacements, we realized we didn't have enough pepper seedlings to fully populate the cultivated area. Rather than leave the land idle, we planted watermelons. The original plan was for about 2,000 plants, but we squeezed in over 5,000. Overpopulated? Absolutely. Now, as we harvest, I'm reminded of something: Production is messy. Things will go wrong. Unexpected challenges will appear. Plans will change. No matter how prepared you think you are, nature and reality will always have a few surprises waiting. This watermelon harvest wasn't part of the original vision, yet here we are, loading vehicles and moving produce. That's resilience. Once this harvest is completed, we move on to the next elephant. Sugar cane ripening. Did you know that spraying of chemicals like glyphosate can aid the ripening (sugars) of cane? It happens indirectly. #Spray #drones are increasingly used to deliver this benefit to cane farmers, as on a Ugandan farm below. All questions welcome.

Well this is crazy. Got a call from my neighbor said my shop/barn was on fire. Got home and it’s all gone. All of my tools, tractor, golf cart, side by side, son’s fourwheeler, freezer, fridge, rifles, bcs tiller, all of my beekeeping equipment, and my fresh spring batch of honey in jars that I just extracted last week. Along with all kinds of other stuff I built and gathered over the past 15 years. Gone Still in shock, have no idea how it happened. 😭
