No, we're not supposed to believe Yaxel without due diligence. I think it's probably an absurd statement. But that's what the quote is, directly from the player, and you give Kentucky a chance to respond, which is what happened. Pope chose not to do so. x.com/jake_hiser21/s…

This is so misguided from Pope that it's not even funny, it's moronic. This isn't just some unnamed report from a questionable media member. Yaxel Lendeborg literally said himself to the AP that he was offered 7-9M.

Odd for Pope to blame the media on the Yaxel story because in this case, it was actually Yaxel that said it
I get frustration with reporting but in this case the story wasn’t created by the media, it was the kid
He could of course, also just answered “No we didn’t”
