For the third time in less than a year, millions of people took to the streets nationwide for “No Kings” protests against the Trump administration, as demonstrations unfolded amid a military conflict, rising gas prices and a partial government shutdown.
Seattle was among the cities where crowds turned out in large numbers, with tens of thousands marching through downtown. Some gathered near the Space Needle, while others moved down Fifth Avenue in a stream that shut down several streets on Saturday.
The Seattle “No Kings” protest began at Cal Anderson Park on Capitol Hill and ended near Seattle Center, part of thousands of similar demonstrations across the country opposing President Donald Trump and his administration.

The WA budget has sadly turned into a way to redistribute money to politically-aligned entities like consulting companies and unions.
That's why, despite more than doubling spending in the past decade, so many livability outcome metrics have declined: academic outcomes, road quality, homelessness, affordability, and more.
WA State spending isn't seen as a way to improve outcomes, but as a way to enrich activist groups and consultants, with comparatively little going to improve livability outcomes.

@BoomerDivvies Anyone not counting true home equity as an asset, and therefore part of net worth, is missing the bigger picture. Even better with a paid off home. Of course my home is not a cash flowing instrument so it does not enter into income computations. But it’s an asset of real value.

@jhova1313 @themoviedadsc That’s the way we used to do it. Out the driveway by 4:30 or 5:00 am. Three kids (and sometimes my wife) fall back asleep as we make great time those first few hours. Created many great road trip memories. Now my kids do the same with theirs.
English

@themoviedadsc I’m with you on that, don’t like the overnight drive. We typically leave at 430-5am and kids go back to sleep. Depends on age I guess. Either way Ft Lauderdale sounds awesome this time of year!

@michelletandler This white, elderly boomer who wants nothing to do with those protests and is tired of being disparaged by this trope just unfollowed you.

@annbauerwriter @S___Elliott Yes. Some people have a hard time understanding that. You don’t vote for president (or any election) in a vacuum. There is always a choice to be made. In some cases neither candidate/ticket may be appealing. But one must be better than the other.
English

@S___Elliott you are describing exactly the situation I faced when Donald Trump ran against a ticket with Tim Walz on it

@Super70sSports And every 60s kid knows that’s a repurposed GI Joe.

@PolitiBunny There’s a surprise. Fabulous record. When I was in college I had the pleasure of driving Todd (and a couple members of Utopia) from Bellingham, Washington to Vancouver BC for their next gig. Interesting experience.

@seattletimes The fact that national politics are even mentioned in a story about local abuse of tax payers dollars at scandalous, horrific levels shows how unserious Danny Westneat, the Seattle Times and local democrat politicians are about holding the criminals accountable. No kings?
English

No heads will roll, no political careers are threatened, from the King County grants scandal. Politics is in a stage where having a government that works is an afterthought, writes columnist Danny Westneat. ebx.sh/yIaCJQ

Donald Trump is not, never will be, and has never been a king. #NoKings
English

@Millerita Agree. But I’m thinking reason and logic do not work with these folks.
English

@PolitiBunny They seem to be dragging the average age down from 70.
English

Hundreds across the state are expected to join nationwide “No Kings” protests on Saturday.
