I had a conversation with one of the few people (Republican) I thought I could have decent conversation with. We were friends for over 20 years, but distant friends over the last several. He’s a Republican, but never was one of those hardcore MAGA people. I ran into him at the DMV, we were just having a casual conversation. The subject of Trump was brought up and what’s happening in the stock market. I stated it’s affecting a lot of people. He told me not to worry about it because it’ll recover in a couple years. I then asked him about all the seniors who are in retirement now whose 401k’s are being decimated. He said in stride …. “It Sucks to be them”. That was pretty much the end of the conversation. And the end of what used to be a friendship.

Dei is a joke. Doesn’t bother me, though it should bother you. How do you know if you are getting an opportunity because your employer thought you were the most qualified or that they even trust you? Or if he was just checking a box and moving on to get more gov money. I can’t imagine going into work and your coworkers, all wondering if you got the job because you were a token dei hire or if you were actually qualified and were the best choice.
