We are encouraged by #Rwanda's momentum toward equity and believe that medical innovations and linguistic/cultural rights can strengthen each other. By advancing both, we create a truly inclusive nation where every Deaf child and woman can thrive. Thank you for this inspiring progress. @RwandaDeafwomen joyfully celebrates this landmark achievement in Rwanda's healthcare journey: the successful launch of the country's first cochlear implant programme, inspired by young Selva Nesar's resilience and realised through the collaborative "Operation Selva" — bringing transformative opportunities to 10 children and their families. With sincere appreciation and respect, we extend our heartfelt thanks to: His Excellency President Paul Kagame for his visionary commitment to inclusive healthcare that leaves no Rwandan behind; @RwandaHealth, the skilled teams at @kfaisalhospital, our dedicated local surgeons, and international partners including Prof. Dr. Richard Gurgel, MED-EL, and the Crocker Catalyst Foundation — whose expertise and generosity have built sustainable local capacity for generations to come. This milestone is a proud step forward for Rwanda, opening new pathways for Deaf children to engage more fully in education, communication, and society. 🇷🇼 As @RwandaDeafwomen — advocates for the rights, empowerment, and full inclusion of Deaf women and girls — we warmly congratulate all involved and suggest continued collaboration in these positive directions: - Building on successes like this by ensuring families receive comprehensive, balanced information about all communication options, allowing truly informed decisions that best suit each child's needs and context. - Recognising that cochlear implants provide valuable support for some children (as seen in cases where families have strong medical understanding). - At the same time, upholding Rwandan Sign Language (RSL) as our cherished natural language, cultural identity, and fundamental human right — essential for many Deaf individuals to flourish in education, health, justice, and daily life. @NewTimesRwanda

No Sign Language , No Rights. rnadw.org/resource/srhr-…
Rwanda National Association of Deaf Women (RNADW)@RwandaDeafwomen

Together, let's ensure Rwandan Sign Language opens every door to rights! Deaf adolescent girls and young women in Rwanda have so much to contribute — and when we make sign language fully accessible, we unlock their access to essential SRHR services. A gentle reminder of what stands in the way — so we can remove it together: Ableism: The outdated idea that typical abilities are "better" — when in truth, every body and every mind brings unique strengths. Audism: The preference for spoken language over sign — overlooking the beauty and power of Deaf communication and culture. Our September 2025 Policy Brief is an open invitation full of practical ideas we can explore and implement together: 1. Transform health centres into welcoming, truly inclusive spaces for everyone. 2. Shine a light on Deaf AGYW experiences so no one stays unseen. 3. Place Deaf adolescent girls and young women's voices at the heart of decisions that affect them! Sign language is a beautiful bridge to human rights — and when we build it together, no one is left behind. Full policy brief and RSL version: rnadw.org/resource/srhr-… What ideas or steps excite you? Let's collaborate and make this vision real — we're stronger together! #NoHumanRightsWithoutSignLanguage @KvinnaKvinnaINT @Sida @ncpdrwanda @RwandaParliamnt @RIB_Rw @RwandaYouthArts @RwandaHealth @AnnetteMukiga @SwedeninRW @kabutarehospit3 @Imbuto @nsanzimanasabin @Yego_Kimisagara @Louisalejandro

Big thanks to Mr. Omari for this excellent explanation in Rwanda Sign Language! 🙌 The video already answers these key questions about the ongoing #eNdangamuntu registration: 1. What is e-Ndangamuntu? 2. Who needs to register? 3. What documents should you bring? 4. Where to go for registration and biometrics? 5. How long does it take and when will the new digital ID be issued? 6. What if you have children under 16? 7. Is it free? Is there support for deaf persons and people with disabilities? 8. Latest progress and when it will reach your district (e.g. Kigali)? Watch the full video for clear answers in RSL! Don’t delay – register soon! @NidaRwanda @Gasabo_District @Nyarugenge @KicukiroDistr @CityofKigali

Thank you for the updates! 🙏 However, this information is not accessible to Deaf Rwandans (the majority are left out). To avoid leaving anyone behind in this #eNdangamuntu exercise, please add Sign Language interpretation to announcements/videos and, where possible, have interpreters at registration sites! @NidaRwanda @ncpdrwanda @KicukiroDistr @CityofKigali @Gasabo_District
