Convo last night: Why can AI make these videos and not read radiology scans etc? AI can crush radiology scans and most healthcare applications, harder part is entrepreneurs breaking down huge barriers of healthcare ecosystem to deploy.

There's consensus that the NHS is in a perilous state. My hypothesis is that this is cause for optimism: agreement across the political spectrum that things can't go on as they are provides a rare opportunity to make bold, systemic changes.

@JimBethell Agree that a greater tolerance of (contained) failure in the NHS would be helpful, but disagree that taking greater risks is what’s necessary. Smart commissioning that shares risk and aligns incentives with innovators more important.

Sir Patrick Vallance is right. NHS must take more risks to innovate.
Vaccines programme shows huge dividend when we get it right.
But we must also be prepared for moments when we get it wrong. And avoid risk-aversion and fear of failure.
