I still don't understand why we need to have pre scheduled trains for peak routes like Mumbai Ahmedabad, Chennai Bengaluru, Chennai Coimbatore etc. You know there's demand. You know there are many small but crucial stations en route a lot of people want to get on and get off So Why do we need to go thru that monstrosity of a site called IRCTC, battle the buggy site to look up trains, use more attempts than Robert Bruce's spider to book that elusive ticket and then reach the station on a specific time, even when we are traveling for a relatively small distance like Chennai Katpadi or Mumbai Surat? Why can't the railways run one Vande Bharat an hour on these routes and allow people to simply go and board it like a local train?

Lance Naik Meenatchi Sundaram A, a son of Tamil Nadu serving with 34 Rashtriya Rifles, is one such case. During a counter-terrorist operation in Kulgam, Jammu & Kashmir, terrorists attempted to break through the security cordon while firing indiscriminately. Meenatchi Sundaram and his buddy, Havildar Devender Kumar stood in their path. 👉In the ensuing firefight, he was shot in the face and right shoulder. Most men would have been incapacitated. But, he continued fighting. Bleeding and severely wounded, he engaged a terrorist at close quarters and neutralised him. The terrorist was later identified as an operative involved in multiple attacks, including the infamous 2019 Jammu Bus Stand grenade attack on civilians. A soldier, wounded in the face, refusing to yield ground, refusing to withdraw, refusing to let terrorists escape. This is not courage in theory, but, courage in its purest form. For decades, soldiers from Tamil Nadu have quietly served on some of India's most difficult frontiers...from Siachen to Kashmir, from counter-insurgency operations to high-altitude warfare. Yet their stories often do not receive the attention they deserve within the state! Lance Naik Meenatchi Sundaram's story is a reminder that patriotism in India has never belonged to one language, one state, one caste or one community. When bullets fly in Kashmir, Siachen or in Galwan....the man standing between terrorists and civilians may be from any town, city or state... The uniform comes first. Everything else comes later. The Kirti Chakra, is India's second-highest peacetime gallantry award, is reserved for acts of conspicuous bravery and self-sacrifice. Tamil Nadu MUST be proud of its son.
