Really wonder if Basho 2.0 could be a thing. Given a different playbook, is there any money to be made from a laser-focus on extreme reliability and fault-tolerance in 2018?

@sargun I know of zero systems in production that reach the bar that we probably would have acheived by ~Riak 4.0. Most companies stop at "good enough" solutions. Going beyond likely requires amortizing dev cost across multiple customers.

@sargun "Nobody" is nonsense. Plenty used/still use Riak without issue. It's not meant to be a world + dog solution. Just need a handful of customers that care about extreme availability (including partition tolerance) willing to pay top dollar. Focus on best-in-class for that niche.

@jtuple @sargun Extreme sensitivity to latency is also a niche that Basho 2.0 could go after. AP will always have a lower floor on latency than CP, and for some businesses in adtech and fintech that's a tremendously big deal
