Far more likely that a very malevolent force is in charge of human reality that seeks to enslave us in a fake reality and fake self-identity and only if we go beyond that fake self-identity will we remember what we have been manipulated to forget. We will remember what the True 'I' really is and has always been - and it's not the brief experience we call 'human'.
