1. Arsenal do not play with a 10. We play with a hybrid 8/10 position. RCM/AM. It's two roles in one. 2. Eze has played that role and has been hit or miss. It's not just about "finding a 10 that shoots". Nwaneri has also been tried there to varying results. Before you critique a role, you need to understand why the role exists. Otherwise, you'll be trying to force Eze into a role he is not suited for.

Odegaard, Zubimendi, and Rice are exceptional at controlling the ball. Odegaard is the best at control (least miscontrols) thanks to his exceptional first touch, but Zubimendi has the best ratio relative to control attempts. People have been complaining about Odegaard and Zubimendi playing together, but the whole point of Odegaard dropping deep is for someone else to take that space. From what I've seen, these are the players that occupy that space the most in the positional rotations: -Timber: A great underlapper who benefits from runs into the space Odegaard vacates as he drags the DM or CM man-marking him out of position. -Saka: I watched for an entire year Arsenal fans complain that Odegaard takes spaces away from Saka only for them to complain now that Odegaard drops deeper and Saka has space to cut into the left half-space and, at times, centre. Gyokeres plays a big part in this as well, but Odegaard also gets out of the way so Saka can be himself. -Zubimendi: This is the ideal, but it'll take more time. Zubimendi, Rice, and Odegaard rotate a lot as all three work well in all three vertical phases of play. It worked exceptionally well in the Brugge game. We saw Zubimendi and Odegaard overloading the left for Madueke's second goal in a relational fashion. We saw Zubmendi ghost higher when Odegaard dropped deeper in typical positonal fashion, and this troubled Oyedika (Brugge's LDM) and Vanaken (Brugge's CAM) a lot. -Calafiori: Just because he's Calafiori. I doubt it's by design, bro just does whatever he wants as our chaos merchant.

A sporting director wants Šeško. A coach wants Gyökeres. Spin it whatever way you want, Gyökeres is what Arsenal needed in the short-term, even if Šeško has a higher ceiling. Šeško needs time. Gyökeres needs less time. Trust me when I say he is going to keep on scoring goals.

Arteta is so obsessed with his system that he never trusts "instinct" players (Madueke, Eze, Nwaneri) in tight games like yesterday. The fact Madueke was awful when he came on against Villa probably makes him ever more cautious.
