Known as the “Green Heart” of Germany, Thuringia is emerging as a prominent hub for green hydrogen and hydrogen technologies in Germany. A joyous moment for every Indian! Chola Copper Plates dating back to the 11th Century will be repatriated to India from the Netherlands. Took part in the ceremony for the same in the presence of Prime Minister Rob Jetten. The Chola Copper Plates are a set of 21 large plates and 3 small plates and largely contain texts in Tamil, one of the most beautiful languages of the world. They relate to the great Rajendra Chola I formalising an oral commitment made by his father, King Rajaraja I. They also showcase the greatness of the Cholas. We in India are immensely proud of the Cholas, their culture and their maritime prowess. I thank the Government of the Netherlands and Leiden University in particular, where the Copper Plates were kept since the mid-19th century. @MinPres

Today, at the 11th Brainstorming Session at IIPM, Gurugram, along with @PetroleumMin officials and leaders of our oil and gas PSUs, we discussed plans to strengthen our India’s energy future. Key deliberations included strengthening of Research and development, Innovation and startup ecosystem in Indian oil and gas space, focusing on further reforms in domestic E&P sector specially for deepwater drilling to increase offshore oil and gas exploration. PM Sh @narendramodi Ji appeals to the citizens to curtail use of petrol and diesel, use public transport where possible, and car pool as much as possible. Measures such these will help the nation conserve energy, save on the energy import bill and overcome the challenges arising out of the serious military conflict involving many energy producing nations. India is among very few countries which have not raised energy prices and has maintained steady supplies to the citizens even as we see crises unfold in many parts of the world. Our energy sector is absorbing the brunt of the impact. OMCs are buying crude, gas and LPG at higher cost, but in order to protect consumers, they are selling final products at lower cost leading to massive mounting losses of upto ₹1,000 crore per day. However, the OMCs have ensured uninterrupted energy imports and supply. We have managed to protect the more than 60 million consumers who visit the retail stations everyday. Still further, Modi govt reduced excise duties on retail fuel and saw revenue losses of ₹14,000 crore in a month. Even after this decision, estimated OMC under-recoveries during this quarter itself are expected to surge to ₹2,00,000 crores and losses are expected to be around ₹1,00,000 crores. Congratulations on the successful new oil & gas discovery to Oil India Limited and Indian Oil Corporation Limited (the Indian Consortium partners with SIPEX, Algeria as the operator) in the contract area 95/96 in Ghadames Basin, Libya. The well was completed to a final depth of 8,440 feet and achieved production of 13 million cubic feet of gas and 327 barrels of condensate per day during testing from the Awynat Wanin and Awyn Kaza formations. The discovery reflects the growing global footprints of Indian energy companies, importance of strategic international alliances, and our commitment to strengthening national energy security through overseas assets acquisition by national oil companies.
