Under Section 117.06, if police miss the 30-day filing deadline, guns are returned by default—no hearing required. This failure didn't just return old guns; it let everyone in the house legally buy more.

The RCMP didn't follow protocol; they failed it. Saying this is standard is admitting every police force is dangerously incompetent.

@TWilsonOttawa The RCMP may have done nothing wrong here! Many want to be critical without any facts as to what guns they returned to that home; why; where the eventual killer lived then, etc. The facts will come out but let’s not blame them for things we don’t know. We do know they saved lives
