I've been on a "go around" landing in San Diego before. I think it's more common there because of the approach. The Laurel travel center (multi story parking garage) is right at the end of the runway. BTW, historic nerd fact, used to be THE THING to do when there was a roof top bar at the old El Cortez hotel to go for drinks and look DOWN at the planes on approach! 😮
