@SashoMacKenzie @golfsciencelab Thank you for answering. Would you have the blade lengths of current ping irons. But the theory that longer still stays open more holds.

It was likely on @golfsciencelab There are a few factors that would influence the amount of fade bias (eg, moi, offset, CoG location relative to face center), so I’m not sure if I could rank existing irons without good measurements and player testing. There are probably different ways to measure blade length, but I would say the distance from an extension of the shaft to the furthest point of the blade in the toe direction would be reasonable.

@SashoMacKenzie I listened to a great podcast where you talked about blade length and shape. Where can I find it listed and what would be the most fade biased of modern irons. How do you measure blade length.

You might find this interesting. 🤔 A friend of mine decided to try a short-shafted driver. We talked about it a few times previously and he decided to give it a try. He has a GC Quad, so I asked him to do some testing. HIS HANDICAP INDEX: 📊 5.0 to 8.0 (6.1 when he did the test) APPROACH: 📔 After a warm-up, he hit 15-20 drives per day. In between each driver shot, he would hit a 50-60 yard wedge. He did 10 total sessions, alternating clubs each day. Same head in both clubs (each at the same setting). Same shaft in both clubs - one was at 45.5 inches the other 42.75 inches. 45.5 INCH DRIVER: ➡️Avg Total Distance: 248.4 yards ➡️Offline STDEV: 22.1 yards ➡️Percent of shots >30 yards offline: 17.5% 42.75 INCH DRIVER: ➡️Avg Total Distance: 245.2 yards ➡️Offline STDEV: 19.5 yards ➡️Percent of shots >30 yards offline: 12.4% SUMMARY You can see in the image below, the short shafted driver resulted in a tighter grouping on the face. He was able to keep the ball closer to the sweet spot. Average distance with the shorter shaft decreased 3.2 yards. Offline STDEV with the shorter driver decreased 2.6 yards. He saw an increase in accuracy, with a decrease in the number of "big misses". WHAT CAN YOU LEARN FROM THIS? If you have not tried a shorter shafted driver, you may want to put that on your list. Make sure you consult a fitter so they can get you squared away. Distance is VERY important, but reducing big misses is also an important part of the puzzle. Be open minded to trying a different approach. You may find something that works really well for YOU. A shorter shafted driver supplemented with speed training might be just the thing to take your driver to the next level.

If you are against any sort of rollback, what is the number one reason why? What is *the* reasoning or rationale you are opposed to potential changes in equipment that address the distance issue?

I have been a director of golf for over twenty years. Most play the course at 6200 yards. I have never seen any player hit the ball too far. Golf is very hard for 99% of the people who PAY to play it. @RandA @USGA

@McLeanGolf Easy fix for him. Great way to bring consistency to his putting.

I think the most important thing for Will Zalatoris is without a doubt going to the broomstick. He had one of the worst putting strokes in the history of the PGA Tour and still almost one three majors! I think it will work.

@ukgolfguy @McLeanGolf Disagree 100%. The ams cant loose distance as the are already too short in general and why would the ball companies invest in balls the will give away. We are at the limits now just leave it alone. Course set ups can be tweaked for pros and who cares what score wins a pro event.

@McLeanGolf I think they will. The yrealise they have more of a responsibility in the game than just keeping equipment companies happy. And I reckon a ball that goes less far for pros but pretty much the same distance for the rest of us would still make the ball companies plenty of money!

He’s a great architect. Agrees with Nicklaus and Tiger. I think it’s overdo, but most will not agree. Will the USGA and R&A pull the trigger? #savethedrivingranges
