What about the Islamic-Andalusian architectural marvels that are still baffling architects to this day like Alhambra, Mezquita, Giralda, Seville’s Alcazar? or the Renaissance and Neoclassical movements have deliberately turned their backs on medieval Christian aesthetics and went back to what the pagan Romans and Greeks were doing centuries ago? Christianity, to its credit, is one of the major components that contributed to old Europe’s beauty but it is just one single part of a centuries-long series of building blocks that have resulted in this rich historical visual tapestry Single-cause simplistic historical analyses are sloppy slogans that appeal to those who can’t handle the complexities of history - which is where the beauty comes from
