What would you do if your life stopped? Right here - Right now. When our 8 week old baby crashed in a #WInnipeg Emergency Room - that is exactly what we faced. Our lives as we knew it - was over! amazon.ca/gp/product/148…

@mario4thenorth @JaxieRenf So how would this law actually help? Perhaps a better question is why would this law not affect Pediatric Cardiology?

In Canada, you get fined $155 for fishing without a licence. You get fined $672 for not marking your swimming pool's depth. A business gets fined $70,000 if an employee dies on the job. Heck, in Toronto, you get fined $365 for feeding a pigeon in Toronto. But when the health system accidentally puts a patient in the wrong surgical pile and she dies waiting for heart surgery she was supposed to get within three weeks? ZERO consequences. Not even a written warning. That's what happened to Debbie Fewster in Manitoba. Debbie’s law is needed. Thank you to @SecondStreetOrg for pushing for change.

@Garnet_2203 @doreen_rabi Left wing politicians say they believe in universal health care. in this case, Manitoba’s. NDP praise it, but mismanage it, make no meaningful changes, then blame previous PC govts for their failure. Eventually they are forced into austerity just like they accused the PCs.

Conservative politicians don’t believe in universal health care. in this case, Alberta’s UCP vilify it, underfund it, then point to the damage as “proof” it doesn’t work. That’s not failure. That’s sabotage.

This is not okay! People with issues won’t go to the hospital for fear they will sit there for hours and hours. #YYC #AHS #ABLeg

If you’re a sporting shooter your weapon should stay at the range. Never taken home. If you need to move it to another range you must engage a professional security agency to move it for you.

@CBCNews The so-caller expert in this article doesn’t know jack about the subject matter. I’ve been on both sides of this issue and this is about basic human decency and life. When did we lose our humanity? cbc.ca/news/canada/sa…

@raghu_venugopal A triage nurse wouldn’t even have eyes on vast majority of these pts… spread across hallways, internal WRs… figuring out who is family and support vrs pts… It would be utter chaos… How many with serious conditions LWBS?

@PfParks @raghu_venugopal Why would we speculate what this actually looks like. It happens. HSC Winnipeg Emerg is seeing this right now. So bad they have diverted some patients to the Children’s ED. Want to know what it’s like - just ask any of the staff. When they aren’t being assaulted by the locals.

@raghu_venugopal I don’t think people can actually imagine what 100 registered waiting pts in an Emerg waiting room would actually look like… what the chaos would be like… how impossible it would be to identify the sick. If it took ONE MINUTE to re-triage only 60 would get reviewed in an hr

Weird that the anti-vax US hasn't seen the same measles outbreak, right? Well, naturally, the Canadian media is leaving out some details: The outbreak in Ontario is largely in the unvaccinated mennonite community (source BBC News).

When has insulting someone - belittling and demeaning them - ever convinced them to change their opinion? Is there a historical example of this?

@raghu_venugopal @DrBrianDay The threat to Canadian healthcare isn’t privatization…the threat - the reality is the stranglehold on the means of production by government. Change could happen tomorrow - we must realize there are many people in power with a vested interest in maintaining the status quo.

As an ER doctor I know this better than Dr. Day. And I know privatization of our healthcare system and letting those with more money jump the queue - isn't the Canadian way and isn't the answer. Canadian ER doctors aren't calling for privatization of healthcare. @DrBrianDay
