We are still living at that crux of history, still preoccupied by the challenges thrown up by the end of Antiquity and beginning of the Middle Ages. Themes remain broadly same, just different individuals. This book (first published in 1939) deserves a wider audience:

“When Mark Carney said, ‘The middle powers should get together’—it’s a fantasy. They did that, it’s called Europe,” says Jamie Dimon, chairman and CEO of JPMorganChase. “The GDP of Europe has gone from 90% of America to 70%. And in our view, it will probably continue to erode over time because [of] high taxes. 🔗 Watch the full conversation: bit.ly/3QmGPnr

Some of the most moving history of how Arabia and China built relations, negative and positive. Cites instructive incidents that we do not encounter in Arabic sources. Penned by an Israeli author and professor who hails from Basra, Iraq.

Since long before Islam and then subsequent to it, Arabia and the West have been deeply connected. Inscription: “This is the tomb of Imru’l-Qais, the son of ‘Amr, king of all the Arabs.’” Perhaps the best text that tracks that history:

Met with UAE’s President @MohamedBinZayed in Abu Dhabi, where we discussed President Trump’s MOU with Iran, efforts to secure full and safe transit through the Strait of Hormuz, and regional stability. I thanked the UAE leadership for their unparalleled support, praised their courage and resilience in the face of Iran’s attacks, and reaffirmed our commitment to Emirati security and to our strong bilateral partnership.

What Islamists are doing in Britain they’ve done elsewhere. It starts with charities. They take over mosques. Operate in the universities. Subversion and violence follow. We need to wake up.

@MarkLWolfson @triggerpod Get used to it. Discourse is not apology. Explanation is not promotion. Try reading Nietzsche on truth(s) and perspectives.

Spent a week where tradition and modernity blend. Not many capitals where conversation flows easily from A.I. to the Pope, faith to finance, economy to education, geopolitics to grand strategy. Citations heard: Harun Al Rashid, Ibn Sina, Charlemagne, Erasmus, Galileo, Hobbes.

A father is an influential role model and a vital pillar of his family’s happiness and stability. On Father’s Day, we remember our Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed, as the epitome of fatherhood who built a nation through wisdom, compassion and dedication. We salute every father who follows in his footsteps, nurturing his family with love, instilling noble values in his children, and opening doors of hope and opportunity so our families remain a source of strength and progress for our society and nation.

With respect, you’re wrong. You cannot simply mirror homophobia, claim ‘Islamophobia’, retain Shia taqiya and then play a collectivist game of political subversion of the West. I do not fear the right or the left, but fear standing before God tomorrow failing to speak truth. Taqiya is for Shia. Let all know. Let the debate mature.

@mehdirhasan Categories and emotions from you, not arguments or facts, dear Mehdi. The only love I wish for is from my Maker, family, and close friends. The UAE is my second home and I will defend it against Iranian/Shia attacks. God bless you and grant you peace.

So let me get this straight: Islamophobes attack you, you try and deflect by making sectarian arguments, I call you out for your sectarianism which won’t protect you from Islamophobes attacking you and which is super cowardly and cynical on your part, and you start talking about ‘Iranian grand strategy’ and Shias being some sort of secret threat to America? And I am the one engaged in ‘sophistry’? Really? A lot of people have attacked you for a lot of things over the years but I didn’t realize how sectarian you had become. I guess that’s what it takes to stay in the UAE’s good books these days. Good luck dealing with the Islamophobes (sorry, anti-Muslim bigotry!) As I said, they’ll never love you Ed. And you’ll be in the camps with the rest of us pretending this was all about ‘Islamist terrorism.’

This interview has upset some people. No apologies offered. If all you can say is ‘taqiya’ on autopilot, you should know the speaker is not from Shia minority of hiding/victimhood mode. Sunni, pro-Arab, pro-America, and sees no contradiction between Islam and the West.
