Palestinian pediatrician Dr. Hussam Abu Safiya is being held and reportedly tortured in an Israeli prison with no charges, no trial and no Due Process. Netanyahu's government must immediately release him from these lawless, horrific and life-threatening conditions.

At the Palestine Donor Group event today with the Palestinian Prime Minister and international partners. The UK is providing £10m for the UN Horizon Fund to support Palestinian led recovery in Gaza, where the appalling humanitarian crisis continues. Israeli Government restrictions preventing basic aid and shelter for Gaza are immoral and must be urgently lifted. We need renewed international support for the Gaza peace process to bring security and peace to the region.

This morning, I preached at the York Minster. As we gather for General Synod this week and look to grow as a church, we heard a reading from Isaiah, who offers a beautiful image of God tending the soil. This is a good image for us to think about as a church, and it is the work of each of us, if we are to rebuild trust and grow hope. That work is already underway. I have seen that soil tended in parishes, churches and communities around the country, making space for hearts to be transformed by the seed of God’s word. It is inspiring to see the life of the church, in the ordinary lives of God’s people doing extraordinary things. The long-standing pursuit of justice for your daughter, Malki, and the 16 other victims murdered by Ahlam Tamimi’s 2001 attack—including seven children and a pregnant woman—is profoundly distressing. The bombing, which resulted in over 130 injuries and the tragic deaths of three American citizens, remains a harrowing example of unpunished terrorism. Your seemingly endless years fighting for justice, utterly breaks my heart. As documented in FBI files, counter-terrorism reports, and extensive media coverage, the evidence surrounding Ahlam Tamimi’s guilt, including by her own admission, is substantial and well-documented for anyone and all to see. Despite this, the lack of definitive action by the United States government remains a point of significant concern. This inaction raises critical questions regarding the government's commitment to protecting its citizens and ensuring that those responsible for such atrocities are held accountable. Under these circumstances, it should be increasingly difficult for Americans to maintain confidence that their government will effectively advocate for them in the face of international terrorism. And this needs to be made clear by more of us. May Malki's memory forever be a blessing
