I’m so curious about what went on creatively behind closed doors with Hexed.
Within the span of several months, the film’s protagonist went from officially being a boy to being a girl (voiced by Hailee Steinfeld).
That doesn’t seem like enough time to redesign the character and then reanimate all of their scenes.
It does make me wonder if they didn’t need to change the visuals at all and simply swapped out the voice actor. Maybe the protagonist was a male who identified as nonbinary or trans or something and Disney then chickened out after seeing public fatigue on those issues?
I feel like the proof will be if we don’t see any of the male lead character designs in any of the ‘making of’ videos or art books.
Love a good troubled production conspiracy theory.
