There have been many scandals through the history of modern medicine. But none even come close to "gender-affirming care." Think about it: A political movement just conjured into existence a type of young person that defies every single thing known about child and adolescent development, demanded that this fictional patient cohort be pumped full of toxic unproven drugs in the complete absence scientific justification, then insisted that these innocent youth be ushered into the operating theatre to have healthy body parts needlessly lopped off. Extremists of this movement took over the leading professional association in the field (WPATH), set about creating garbage standards of care based on their unhinged ideology, infiltrated the Endocrine Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics and engaged in a conspiracy to manufacture scientific consensus for their despicable, unethical experiment. And every major medical association just went along with it! Fell for the stunt these crackpots pulled! Just accepted that a group of healthy kids needed to have their bodies destroyed because they possess a mystical inner gender essence, that these modern-day lobotomies are “medically necessary” and “life-saving” because a bunch of unhinged fanatics said so.

Yes, the people who call themselves 'trans' exist and they deserve exactly the same rights as everyone else, which, fortunately, they already have in the UK. It would rightly be considered discrimination if a person was refused employment, housing or the vote because they identified as trans. 'Trans women are women' is a thought-terminating cliché. Men are not women. That doesn't mean they're not allowed to present themselves however they like, call themselves whatever they like and believe whatever they like about themselves. It means they haven't changed sex. If we replace the objective, observable characteristic of sex with the unfalsifiable concept of gender identify, women and girls lose, among other things, their right to fair and safe sport and women-only spaces, including changing rooms, prison cells and rape crisis services. Women and girls are provably more vulnerable to forms of abuse including sexual assault, harassment and voyeurism in mixed-sex spaces. There is no evidence that trans-identified men don't have exactly the same rates of criminal offending as all other men. Trans people exist. I have no desire for them not to exist; indeed, I wish them safety, happiness and health. However, 'existence' does not, and should not, mean the violation of other people's right to privacy, dignity and freedom of speech, or the reconfiguration of society to indulge a fallacy.

This is a story about a homeowner who bought their house last year partly because of a beautiful large oak tree right in the front yard. Since moving in, their neighbor who lives across the street has made a passive-aggressive remarks wishing the city would cut the whole thing down because she has to sweep a few leaves off her front porch from time to time. This neighbor even complained about the tree’s marcescence, where it holds its leaves through winter and drops them in the spring. Now the owner has come to social media, worried that the neighbor is actually going to try to get the city to remove the tree. How do you think this home owner should deal with this tree hating neighbor?

@MaryK2022 The missing part of what he said is US/UK got 40% because they helped maximize their output. Even giving 40% away (which I’m not excusing) they were getting more money than what they had before…that could have been negotiated down. They were told what the deal was, they chose it
