"We’re Heading for the Largest Nationwide Shutdown in State History" as Fuel Protest Gathers Momentum for Tuesday Action A major national fuel protest is gearing up for Tuesday at 7am, with organisers warning it could be the largest coordinated shutdown in the history of the Irish state. Multiple assembly points have been publicised on a national map, with more locations expected to be announced regionally. Farmers, hauliers, contractors and the public are set to form convoys, threatening widespread disruption to roads, supply chains, commuting and the economy. In Co Clare, supporters will gather at two main points in Shannon and Ennis before combining for the main destination. The mobilisation draws from Shannon, Ennis, Sixmilebridge, Newmarket-on-Fergus, Kilrush, Ennistymon/Lahinch, Gort/South Galway and Limerick side areas. The national map includes key sites such as M1 Castlebellingham Services, N2 Ardee Carrickmacross Link, N3 Virginia Service Area (Clonee side), N4 Enfield Services, M7 Junction 14 and N11 Ashfield Services. Further points are due to be confirmed. The protest is driven by an escalating fuel crisis linked to Middle East tensions. Green diesel has surged to €1.70 per litre, while petrol and diesel are rebounding despite the Government’s temporary excise cuts from late March. Independent Ireland Agriculture Spokesperson Michael Fitzmaurice TD, with party leader Michael Collins TD, has called for the immediate recall of the Dáil. “Ten days ago I outlined the key issues if the Government did not act. We are now seeing that crisis escalate in real time. We must act urgently. That is why the Dáil must be recalled immediately,” said Deputy Fitzmaurice. The TDs warn spiralling costs are hitting agriculture, construction, haulage, housing and household budgets hard, especially in rural Ireland. Earlier supports have been criticised as insufficient as wholesale prices rise again. Similar haulier actions were paused after talks, but current frustration is far higher. If large numbers take part, Tuesday’s protest could affect every industry and commuter nationwide. More regional details are expected over the weekend.

Ireland's first public hearing into how the Covid-19 was handled was revelatory and painful, but healthy too, for a better insight into the most significant national crisis in the last 100 years, writes Health Correspondent Fergal Bowers rte.ie/news/analysis-…

@eric_nelligan @ColetteColfer For us people who believe in common sense and the reality of biology yes. For Enock Burke and his family probably also yes. He stuck to his guns. That's the only reason he's still in jail. He will have lost a lot but didn't lose himself. He never gonna giveup he can't now.

I keep getting into discussions about Enoch Burke. I'm putting a line under it. My views on the matter are that his suspension was 100% related to gender identity belief, that the school Principal behaved unjustly albeit with good intention by requesting all staff to use they/them pronouns, that Burke was disruptive and his behaviour objectionable and that this warranted a disciplinary procedure. Was it gross misconduct justifying skipping the first three steps of routine misconduct hearings? This is questionable. Some will say yes, some will say no. Yes, he is in jail because he violated court orders. The orders arose because he refused to accept the terms of his suspension (prohibited from entering school grounds). Ultimately I think two types of extremism encountered each other at Wilsons Hospital School - one, a type of Evangelical Christianity, the other, gender identity belief. Burke has been used as a mechanism by which to further silence any and all critique of gender identity belief in Ireland. We need more discussion - more open conversation, not less. At least now people are aware that teachers have been compelled to use preferred pronouns. It is only in very recent months that the Department of Education confirmed that teachers are not required to do so - thanks to an article and coverage in the Irish Times. Remember? In January the Irish Council for Civil Liberties (true story) produced a guide saying schools MUST use preferred pronouns and then the Department responded. Maybe it's thanks to Enoch that the issue was brought to this. Enoch was never violent. Disruptive yes. I do not agree with his religious beliefs and I think he could have protested the instruction in other more productive ways. But here we are. ENDS. I will not be responding to any comments on this.

@eric_nelligan @ColetteColfer Impending firement? I believe they won't take the next step lightly as it will result in an unfair dismissal case which I believe he will win and that will demolish this whole pronoun garbage in schools. Honestly I hope he takes them to the cleaners.

I would call this a fair assessment of the situation.

His suspension and firing was most certainly fast-tracked, did he deserve a reprimand for his argument with Principal? most likely. Did the employer take the time to resolve the dispute in a manner that would have happened if the issue wasn't Gender Pro-nouns, most certainly not.

I went to the care home today to retrieve my father’s belongings. This is what was presented to me. I had to ask twice for a private place to sort through it. I said nothing, nor will I name the “care” home. My father’s life was not garbage.

Fact. I've started looking at most products. Even a pack of scone mix I picked up other day. Had palm oil. Needless to say I went home and made it myself.

The mission to buy non #PalmOil Easter Eggs is a ridiculous mission. @CadburyUK you're going to have a massive issue in sales and deservedly so. We want Milk, we want cream and we want cocoa. It ain't hard. Read the room. @MDLZ you've annoyed us Brits. REPENT

Anonymous My 13-year-old son just said, “Mum, I think I have a good idea. The people in America protesting ICE should call themselves LAVA — Local And Very Angry. And lava melts ice. You should post that and see if it's a good idea" We’re about as far away from the United States as you can get, here in Perth, Western Australia. But I hope the people over there know that even a young boy on the other side of the world can see when something isn’t right.

As a child in the 60’s living in Germany I came across gender neutral toilets, they were known as unisex toilets and swimming pools had unisex changing rooms and it was never a problem and still isn’t, the only people making it a problem is you pathetic sad miserable people,e who need to hate something Sod off Doctor…….. let and let live. There’s more danger inside peoples homes as my cousins and her rapist brothers daughters know only too well….. he was always screaming about such places whilst a scout leader where he found many of his victims. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this disgraceful incident. This is exactly why mobile phones should be banned in schools. It also shows the importance of single-sex spaces, which keep women and girls safe. These are issues I have been raising for a while now, but the SNP still won’t listen. scottishdailyexpress.co.uk/news/scottish-…

during Ramadan my husband, who is Catholic, refused to eat during lunch so that he could sit in solidarity with his Muslim co-workers. despite their reassurances, he said he felt bad. So today, which is a holy day (Good Friday) for us Catholics, his Muslim friends fasted with him until noon and no one had meat. they all had vegan/vegetarian meals. my heart is so grateful for these signs of love ❤️

Lawyers For Justice Ireland
To date, almost €450 million Euro has been provided by the Irish Government in direct funding to Ukraine, with €193 million allocated for 2026 so far. In addition, over €5.3 billion has been spent on housing and payments to Ukrainian "refugees". Irish children with Scoliosis are having to seek treatment in America via community and online fundraising. Over 90,000 children are on hospital waiting lists in Ireland. Hospital emergency rooms are in chaos. Our healthcare system is in crisis. This is tantamount to criminal neglect of Irish citizens. Where are all the so-called "Opposition"? Shame on them all... @HMcEntee @nealerichmond @MichealMartinTD @SimonHarrisTD
