The Pope is supposed to ask for peace and if you're doing war stuff you're supposed to be like I agree I hope we have it soon.

Curious overlap between who’s scrutinizing the pope and who’s dismissing the Epstein files.

Remember: Pope John Paul II denounced neoliberalism by name, spoke ardently for the rights of workers, and condemned the Iraq war. But American right wing Catholics just waved this all away. This stuff is nothing new.

For many, Catholicism becomes irritating precisely the moment they realize the Church in fact means what she says.

@CatholicArena Who attacked the brother? Everyone knows the brother is MAGA, so who attacked his home? This is so obviously an op. Axelrod meeting… his fingerprints all over this op to divide the Catholic vote away from MAGA.

In the past 24 hours, Pope Leo's brother's home had to be evacuated due to bomb threats and Trump falsely claimed that Leo made a statement saying 'Iran can have a nuclear weapon' Is there no one in the Republican Party who can deescalate this This is out of control

@CatholicArena We don't know who made the bomb threat. It could be someone from the right, left, or who is a-political. The past few years have shown the vast majority of violence comes from the left. So if I were to bet....

@CatholicArena Yes. Leo’s brother is a Trump supporter. It will not surprise me in the slightest if the person making the bomb threat is identified and turns out to be a radical Democrat activist.

@CatholicArena Strange since Trump praised Pope Leo's brother as "MAGA" on multiple occasions.

Trump said he likes the Pope’s brother because he’s MAGA. Doesn’t sound like a MAGA thing to do, either. The Pope can easily stop this war of words with the President. He’s issuing multiple statements per day criticizing the war in Iran and defending Islam and illegal immigration. He CHOSE politics.

@CatholicArena It was some leftist nut jobs that did, because Trumps has been saying the Popes brother is MAGA. Another hoax from the left blaming the right when it was in fact a leftist

@SaltierSauceAL @CatholicArena this was not a bomb threat on the MAGA brother, this was a bomb threat someone made in Illinois, almost certainly called in by an insane MAGA cultist

@CatholicArena Yeah leftists called in that bomb threat because Louis isn't controlled by them. If you can't see that you're either willfully ignorant or a liar.

@VelvetGavel @FrStephenImb It's only upsetting because you see preaching for peace as an attack on the man you worship in the white house. Maybe if people didn't try to deify Trump and realized that every pope since WWII has stood firmly against war, you'd feel less triggered by the leader of your faith

@FrStephenImb Disagreement is not disrespectful. We can disagree and ask questions. There's a timeline here that is upsetting to many Catholics.

The disrespect that so many Catholics here are showing Pope Leo is disgusting. Yea, yea, yea you all will give me the litany of the reasons you have for your disrespect. You will pummel me with questions like, “but Father, what about this, this, and this…” Well I have a question for you! Who do you all think you are? You are the holy ones? The prayerful ones? So filled with the Holy Spirit? Who are you to scrutinize and judge every single word and action of Christ’s authority on earth? The pharisaical nature of American Catholics is truly coming out. And then, so many denigrating the Pope at every turn at the same time minimize and rationalize every action and diatribe of our President? Here is a reflection for us all…Proverbs 9:10.

Well, well, well.....What do we have here? Could it be an email between Epstein and JD Vance’s techno-tyrant benefactor Peter Thiel where they plan to “collapse society" in order to create wealth opportunities for themselves? Well, I'll be damned. It is!

@NotPJORourke @paulmcleary NATO countries, rightly, realized it would be less costly for them to negotiate with Iran to get their ships through the strait than to fight a war over something one country did unilaterally. This is something anyone who did basic model UN could have predicted

Hegseth says of NATO allies: "when shots were fired and those countries were needed the most, they weren't there" in the Gulf. Allies were not briefed on the war plans or timelines before the war started - and the US didn't ask for help.

It should be a much bigger story that JD Vance flew to Hungary, stood on a campaign stage, and told voters to return a head of government widely documented for human rights abuses and democratic backsliding. Then, after his candidate lost, Vance said what had happened during the Hungarian campaign was “one of the worst examples of foreign election interference that I’ve ever seen or ever even read about.” Was he describing himself? The Hungarian people rejected it all. Democracy held, despite America’s intervention, not because of American leadership. The United States has long argued that elections should be free from outside influence. That standard should apply to everyone, including us. nytimes.com/2026/04/07/wor…
