@PokeTeeJay @Shr3dTV Sounds like he lost money by selling it instead of holding it. How nice of him to offer it to people at a future discount

🚨 Full week of testing in our Discord done, here’s our Week 1 Tier List 🚨
Early take: Set 3 feels far less fundamentals-driven. The games are heavily defined by who can execute the most powerful plan the fastest.
Whether that’s Karthus lock with LeBlanc, Elder Dragon setups through Aurora/Rift Herald, or hard lockouts with Vex, raw power is mattering more than clean play.
This is still early ofc so we’re confident there are misplacements, keen to hear where you think we’ve missed. 👀

@Shr3dTV Saw a 151 poster collection (3 packs) for $65 at Comic Con a few months ago
Just laughed and walked away

@House_of_Champs Most of the challenge in Yugioh lies in deckbuilding. There are some interesting puzzles to solve there, especially if you factor in things like Small World.
When it comes to execution... the decks mostly play themselves.

@TheZachkAttack I don't think anyone was going to use Vanguard as an example of a TCG with no non-games 😅
English

@yano_gamedev Tbh I was not a fan of the cave in Dokimon where taking the wrong path made you restart from the entrance.
English

@jujunym So what you just explained is that you walked away from a deal over 2$
English

@Kriptini What does that even mean? We have lands that become threats, spells, abilities etc. our resource system is literally built onto real cards too
English

Bro non magic players don't know what the fuck is going on with their resource systems and all they want to do is point at magic and say "you have to admit it's flawed'
Does your resource system turn into threats (Mutavault)? Enable splashes (fetches)? Do stupid shiii (bazaar)?
Ryan Effin' Miles@RyanEffinMiles
Nobody thinks Magic's non-games are "worse" than other games, nor are other games "tricking you" - Magic has, demonstrably, more of them. The game was designed in the 90s, its ok to admit they didnt do everything right. They do a great job making it feel less bad, but it's bad.

@leveIone Unironically the best mana system in a tcg is the one from the furry age regression diaperfur card game which i shall not name, because it manages to simultaneously use the same resource for cards, abilities, resource gathering, and as a win condition
English

Lead Game Designer for one of if not the worst tcg in the market tweeting this is definitely... something.
Maebatsu@maebatsu
Yugioh player thinks your deck's entire engine should be playable on turn 1, more news at 11

Resource systems that create the potential for non-games shouldn't be ranked as better than resource systems that don't create the potential for non-games. Apparently that's a hot take!
Luis Scott-Vargas@lsv
TCG Resource System Power Rankings: 1. Lands 🏆 (MTG) 2. Gain 1 resource per turn (HS) 3. Resource deck to draw from (RFT) 4. Playing cards face-down (SWU) 5. No resources - rules constraints (YGO)

@Jorge_Yarza1705 @SaffronOlive I think Iyslander vs. Prism was way more polarized. That matchup would make me auto-concede. 😅
I just wanted to point out that non-games don't inherently exist in FaB like they do in MtG. Assuming a properly balanced format, every game should be winnable.
English

@Kriptini @SaffronOlive There are instances, that are almost all rotated out of the main format (CC) where one hero can't do anything against another. You know you lost when both show their hero. Oldhim vs Old prism is the best example of that.

Every TCG is going to have non-games. Non-games are the result of variance which is something TCG's need.
Some people feel like Magic's non-games are worse because the variance comes from the mana system, so a MTG non-game is "you don't play you cards." In reality this is no more of a non-game than some Hearthstone card doing something random to kill you out of nowhere, but Magic takes more heat for it because it feels worse.
It's basically the same concept as how in Commander you can Doom Blade your opponent's commander and it's fine, but if you counter it they get salty. The result is the same, but the Doom Blade gives you the illusion that you were actually making progress and doing something. It tricks you into thinking your decisions mattered, but really they didn't.
Non-games in other TCG's do a better job of giving you this illusion, to tricking you into thinking that they aren't really non-games because you are taking game actions and doing things. But really they are the same as getting mana screwed.

@CardGameNomad The players gave it plenty of love. The publisher does not.

Why are people hating on this guy? This is what a store looks like when it's just starting out. My store had only a few more products starting out but in just a few short months it's grown tremendously.
doomer@uncledoomer
is this what goes on at dead malls
English

@jakeformayor A little late for the premodern train, isn't it? Spider-Man still has lots of room to go up!
English

@Kriptini I'm not holding any! 😂 EDH specs are broadly a waste of time since people need 1-3 copies max. Only reason I got in on Grancestral Recall was comp players were going to need a lot of playsets and fast. Putting all my $ in premodern/ABU right now
