Would Plato see mtf gender dysphoria as an immoral inclination and ftm dysphoria as a misplaced but good inclination?

Timaeus 42b-c is interesting because the idea that all immoral men get born again as women would imply maybe a slow disproportionate ratio of women to men in the human species

@CatholicCo200 That’s a good way of explaining it but it leaves out the relationship between each person which is more important

@Michaeldudufudu I do it all the time to the point it’s natural although this is an exaggeration of it, it’s to help correct posture women tend to have feet that face forward or slightly inward whereas men’s feet tend to face onward

@BopBoopBeepBeep transgender people kill themselves when they can’t transition, you’re contributing to that right here right now, you’re not fighting some war of information. Either way, knowing that the expert still side with me, I can comfortably block you and go make my lunch.
English

@BopBoopBeepBeep No, I’m arguing that if you don’t include a few experts that you’re not going to be able to create a high-quality review because you have a lack of understanding of the subject you’re attempting to review
English

This one’s really funny because the first image he shows me actually goes to prove my point, people are defined mail by their characteristics, not there chromosomes, or even their gametes as many men can’t produce them, some for genetic reasons

@LexaCola2 @OneLaneHwy @Altermerea You're also assuming that medicine doesn't understand the sexes in the same way biologists do, which would kind of defeat the point of medicine. To use your example, people with intersex conditions are medically recognized as male or female based on biology, not some middle sex.
English

@BopBoopBeepBeep It lead to profound misunderstandings on transsexual clinical issues, and the complete misrepresentation of transgender healthcare guidelines
English

@LexaCola2 Think about the words you're saying. What point do you think you're actually making? You don't need to be an "expert in transgender health" to assess the quality of evidence present in a study; you just need to be knowledgeable about statistics and research design.
English

@BopBoopBeepBeep My argument, for the review is that they excluded professionals in the field from participating in the review, which immediately throws into question the ideological drive behind it.
English

@LexaCola2 Arguments against the review tend to be justifications for the low-quality evidence, not a refutation of the review itself. This isn't some isolated paper like what you've shared. This is backed by the NHS and changed UK policy.
English

@BopBoopBeepBeep I looked at it and the review is poor, I can cite some academics for you.
English

@LexaCola2 The evidence is right there for you to read for yourself. It doesn't matter if someone says they personally don't like it. The evidence isn't made up. It's true that clinics weren't collecting data and studies that were used to justify treatment didn't have proper controls.
English

@BopBoopBeepBeep You haven’t refuted the claims that I made about the review, any rationally minded individual would look at the fact that there was no experts in transgender health working on the review, and they would criticize it for that, will you?
English

@LexaCola2 You aren't engaging in scientific thinking, so I won't be able to motivate you with scientific evidence. It's one national review of many, and your opinion of it stems from what you've absorbed from online activists, just like your opinion on people with DSDs.
English

@BopBoopBeepBeep I love how you didn’t even notice the town shift that I had after I was done rereading the paper, I’ve changed my mind several times throughout this argument, that’s because I’m not a pedantic loser like you I’m here to learn.
English

@LexaCola2 If you have access to the internet and academic papers that you've apparently read before, do you think you not knowing much about these topics has more to do with you dismissing everything that contradicts your worldview, rather than just a low SES?
English

@BopBoopBeepBeep I picked up on that, you must also understand that all transgender research is poor, and that there is basically no high quality research, this is mainly because performing a double blind placebo study would be extremely unethical, and a lack of suitable sample sizes
English

@LexaCola2 And you never picked up that they stated no conclusions could be drawn because of the lack of high-quality evidence?
English

@BopBoopBeepBeep The review also finds that HRT is helpful in most cases while still confidently calling for restriction.
English

@BopBoopBeepBeep The class review is largely criticized because of its poor quality evidence and it’s intentional lack of experts on the subject
It is entirely ideologically driven, and I will wholeheartedly rejected forever. I find it and so will most academics. :)
