@Megatron_ron Emaar Hotel? No such place. Emaar is the name of a / the main construction company in Dubai, and proudly displays their name on many of their buildings.

@LSEHEBlog @EdenLSE Alas, I’ve seen various uni’ leaders dismantle and/or turn such centres into little more than workshop providers. No scope/remit for meaningful scholarship/research. Worse, this has happened at research intensive unis. Oh, and don’t get me started on their desire for ‘top tips’.

Are education development centres service units or scholarly centres? Academic partners or administrative apparatus? This identity crisis undermines their vital work, argue Claire Gordon & Sam Smidt – and here's how to resolve it. blogs.lse.ac.uk/highereducatio…

@airasia took a quick trip from Davao to Cebu on Monday, returned on Tuesday. Both flights took off on time, arrived early and aircraft (on both flights) were immaculate. Great service… thank you

When going the pub with mates, usually four of us, I always make sure I buy the last round. We usually have 9-10 drinks when out, meaning I get one/two free pints every visit, saving me a good £12 a time, don't think they've clicked yet.

@dylanwiliam @tombennett71 Yes. Arabic (certainly Emirati Arabic) is a gendered language. Some, not all, words are altered depending on the gender of the ‘’recipient’. In Thai, the speaker adds Khap or Ka to the end of their sentence (for politeness) dependant on their gender.

Just received this (in Dubai). I didn't even realise that words could be gendered in this way depending on who they addressed. Language is amazing.

@labourpress Please just do your job as an elected government. Create and sustain an environment in which all can prosper, be safe, and have access to healthcare and housing. Negative politics and going after an individual is scrapping the barrel and is not want the country needs.

Nothing seems to rile Nigel Farage up quite like being asked about his tax affairs. He's been happy to talk about others, but can't stand being asked about his own. What has he got to hide?

@fake_journals As a side note, I do wonder what (if any) the impact of such retractions on @timeshighered rankings? I suspect the retractions represent nothing but a little bit of ‘data noise’, but it would be interesting to hear from the data analysts.

@Dominic2306 Yes. It’s never a good look to tell untruths or, in your words… ‘spread bullshit’. Whilst here, are we to assume that you’re back from Barnard Castle and are now the bastion of truth?

It's not a quango you dickhead - it's a research agency and it pays people properly because it's almost the only thing in Britain not daily vandalised by the Treasury, so it can hire great people in ways No10 and Cabinet Office can't and it can *just do things* with great people instead of spending years looking at charlatan PPE powerpoints and wasting billions like the rest of Whitehall does. Which is why the rest of Whitehall now goes to it and says errr will you do X cos we couldn't do it in less than 3 years cos you know we're Whitehall so action is impossible. Ask Qs *before* you spread bullshit Toby. It's so super on brand for the modern online right to spread memes without any research hence attacking the tiny part of the system that is NOT like the rest of the knackered system. If you want to understand the history read link in next tweet

The quango behind the mad and dangerous plan to dim the Sun has a budget of £800 million of taxpayer money to blow on speculative projects – and a CEO on £450k. What an extraordinary misuse of public money. dailysceptic.org/2025/05/08/sun…

@Keir_Starmer I had high hopes for a cleaner government (fewer or zero incidents of freebies etc.), more connectivity to the electorate, and keeping your manifesto promises. I’m left leaning, and sadly you did not live up to your promises (or my hopes). Alas, this simply seems hollow now.

Most Prime Ministers would respond to these local elections with the same old excuses. My response is simple: I get it. We’re moving in the right direction, but people must feel the benefits of change. I will go further and faster to make that happen. thetimes.com/uk/politics/ar…

@UKLabour I’m being flooded with attacks on other party’s policies, with little substance on Labour’s. Describe more, with purpose, of your own and move away from party-bashing. It’s tired, lacks anything uplifting, and will not serve you well.

@cjdrucquer @RpsAgainstTrump Weekly 1-2-1s show no trust in what you’re doing &/or a signal you need to be watched. A great boss works with you to set targets / measures of impact etc, & discusses how you might go about things. You should feel able to reach out if you need help or have sticking points.

Why is this insane? I literally have a one on one, every single week with my manager to discuss what has happened in the last week. its a nice communication and a chance to show my work. I feel pride. So I don’t think this should be a weird question. If you do your work with pride they would be glad to answer any questions.
