The Republicans should not be celebrating about the House Maps. The Democrats are just going to redraw all the Congressional maps in New England and remove all the Republican seats…

@MasterOfPuppet @SeanTrende @varadmehta The popular vote is automatically the more important metric. The fact that the us has a mechanism where the election will go to the loser sometimes is an aberration.

Because we live on the worst timeline, we should prepare for a situation where Rs lose the popular vote cleanly (i.e. 51-46, not the 49-48 situation from 2012) but keep the House. Which would be a nightmare.

@chockZ @SeanTrende @varadmehta There are two options here: 1). Seek remedial civic lessons with special emphasis in history of our founder’s intent. Or… 2). Cope harder.

@MasterOfPuppet @SeanTrende @varadmehta The only people who would say such a thing are those who benefit from the rigged structure that they benefit from. If this were the other way around, you would be crying and filling your diaper like a little baby.

@MasterOfPuppet @SeanTrende @varadmehta Again, I’m aware. The premise is that the house of *representatives* should be somewhat representative. That was the Framers’ intent. You can use semantics and sidestep that all you want.

@canaryesq @SeanTrende @varadmehta No. The framers were adamantly opposed to pure democracy. The founders wouldn’t care about the pop votes. The “will” of the people is that CD. Your vote in your CD should not have any impact on the votes in my CD. I reject the premise that pop vote should mean something.

@MasterOfPuppet @SeanTrende @varadmehta I’m well aware of the election system. My point is that the house was intended to be a representative body, and too much of a discrepancy goes against the Framers’ intent of a more representative body

Or, you know, Dems could try to appeal even a little bit to rural communities instead of trying to brute force national policy by primarily winning cities only. Instead, they try to take their guns, attack their values, and now also disenfranchise them.

@canaryesq @SeanTrende @varadmehta We don’t have proportional representation. Electing House Rep is done per congressional districts. The outcome of each CD are independent of one another so it’s possible for a skewed popular vote. But that’s a feature, not a bug. Popular votes is a meaningless number.

@SeanTrende Yes, thats how the system is designed. On purpose. You need to have a plurality of the nation, by community, not by mob.

The funny thing is the racists are completely opposed to the position of @realDonaldTrump and @JDVance ... In their unabashedly supportive campaigning for @VivekGRamaswamy . The GOP has racists in it, but they aren't a racist party. They need to make that more clear.

Whenever I see the lefty legal beagles -- and some on the right as well -- complain about abuses by the Trump DOJ in pursuing someone like Jim Comey, I always think of @MichaelRCaputo and his family. The Mueller investigation cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars in legal fees. He was forced to leave his longtime home in Buffalo and move to Florida for the safety of his young daughters. His professional life built up after 30 years of hard work was destroyed. And Mike is just one of dozens or hundreds of people that the hyper-partisans left-overs of the Obama Admin., and later members of the Biden Admin, destroyed financially in an investigation they KNEW WAS A BASELESS HOAX. So, save me your tears of Jim Comey and some others being "abused" by the Trump DOJ. Todd Blanche didn't make the rules.
