@exQUIZitely Absolutely a landmark game. One of the *very* early major CD ROM hit games. Plus the aura of only playing it if you or one of your friends had a PC with a CD drive! 💽🖱️

Who here is old enough to remember when Myst (1993) blew everyone away? It was a straight-up revolution! Well, that's how it felt like at the time. Developed by brothers Rand & Robyn Miller (Cyan), Myst had over 2,500 photorealistic pre-rendered images, 40 minutes of original ambient music, and 66 minutes of video on a single CD-ROM. Many say it helped kickstart the CD-ROM era (1993 was still heavily dominated by 3.5" disks), which was an expensive hardware luxury back then. It looked and sounded like nothing else. There was no combat. No death. And also no hand-holding. Just you, a mysterious island, books, levers, codes, and puzzles in beautifil, lonely worlds - you had to figure it out, the gameplay was open and non-linear. It felt like stepping into a painting, and you could argue it was one of the first games with true immersion (again, for its time - remember this was 1993). It sold over 6 million copies, and stayed the best-selling PC game for 9 (!) years until The Sims in 2002. It created a whole new audience and changed what people expected from PC gaming forever, the bar was raised to a whole new level. For the first time a game also had real appeal to the non-hardcore gamers. It pulled in more female players than any other game before. For its time it was pure magic.

Doctors are compromised by accepting a cheap pen from a drug rep, but Congress can receive hundreds of millions a year in "lobbyists" money, and their judgment is intact! Nobody buys that, and if Congress didn't take money from lobbyists, there would be no: • PBMs • Physician prohibition on hospital ownership • Stark laws • HITECH Act • ACA • Site dependent care Congress, stop taking healthcare lobby money as it is harming patients and bankrupting the country!!
Paragon Health Institute@Paragon_Inst

🚨 @brian_blase to @DrOz: You’re the most lobbied man in Washington. More money is spent on healthcare lobbying than the entire defense industry x6‼️ Patients and taxpayers don’t have lobbyists. Protecting their interests is essential.

@mcuban It's worse, Mark: the fees will be a sizeable percentage of the standard appointment. So in addition to paying *drastically inflated* prices for the same medical service (ex, chemotherapy easily 5-10x vs private outpt centers), the patient pays an additional fee in the $100s💡🤔

Facilities fees are a scam. It’s like charging a “cup fee” when you buy a beer at the bar

I love that @MorePerfectUS is highlighting the downsides of healthcare consolidation. This is a bipartisan issue. Let’s fix it: Site neutral payments, 340B reform, CON repeal, stark reform, and roll back the physician owned hospital ban.

@nocorporatemed It's already there: insurance-driven healthcare, hospital conglomerates who charge many multiples for standard services, restriction of patient choice, dovetailing into erosion of the doctor-patient relationship and physicians leaving medicine. This ultimately hurts the public!

I can’t wait to go to the next oncology conference and hear “OS benefit was obscured do to crossover”. Remember cross over is a good thing if it mimics what we do in real life (give drug at later line of therapy as opposed to upfront in combo)

Academic oncology has gotten bad. Many are scared to share their true opinions on matters as leaders in the field will black ball them. True innovation thrives on diversity in view points.

@DrNeilStone Beyond the absurdity factor, restricting sales by state of residence is illegal in the US. "The ruling by the Supreme Court, written by Justice Alito for the 7-2 majority, holds that state residency requirements violate the interstate commerce clause." chartwelllaw.com/resources/unit…

@VincentRK Agreed - "apolitical medical expert" is a noteworthy compliment in modern times. Just like any physician worth their salt will treat someone with their best recommendation & experience completely irrespective of the patient's background or political views.

On this date in 1989, Michael Jordan made "The Shot". The buzzer-beater jumper over Craig Ehlo gave the Bulls a one-point win in a winner-take-all Game 5 in the first round over Cleveland. The game featured a wild closing sequence: ➡️ MJ makes a basket with 6 seconds left to give the Bulls a 99-98 lead ➡️ Ehlo makes a layup with 3 seconds left to give the Cavs a 100-99 lead ➡️ MJ makes "The Shot"

It’s honestly exhausting to see how social media has convinced every random stranger that they hold a PhD in how other people should manage their own digital space. This obsession with acting like the "format police" or some self-appointed "content curator" is nothing more than a reflection of the absurd entitlement that’s all over the internet. If someone decides to use a platform designed for brevity to actually dive deep into a topic, that’s a personal choice. Like it or not, it’s what defines their identity and what they bring to the table. What I find totally mind-blowing is that someone would actually go out of their way to barge into a space that isn't theirs just to bark out rules that nobody asked for. The freedom to post whatever the hell you want is exactly the same as the freedom everyone else has to ignore you, block you, or just keep scrolling. The root of the problem is this pathological need for control and the total lack of humility from people who think their personal preferences are universal laws. When you have an audience of tens of thousands of people, it’s obvious there’s a real interest in what you’re saying and how you’re saying it. The numbers don’t lie, but it seems some critics are too blinded by their own ego to see the reality. It’s funny that in an ocean of empty, shallow content and recycled catchphrases, someone actually gets offended because another person decides to use more characters than what’s "normal." The internet is massive and there’s room for everyone, from the person who only posts photos to the one who writes manifestos. That’s why, when someone wastes their time telling you to "go start a blog," it just proves they don't get that the value of an account lies in the author's authenticity, not in strictly sucking up to an algorithm or some microblogging purist. The best advice you can give those people is the one thing they refuse to do: if the content doesn’t fit your vibe, the exit is just one click away. Nobody is forced to read what they aren’t interested in, but nobody has to ask for permission to express themselves however they see fit either. That being said, have a great day, everyone! 😘
