@beeeemooooo Give it a few more years and you'll be able to buy AMD Versal Premium VP1902 type FPGAs for 100$ PS3 has about 250 mil transistors in the Cell and about 300 in the RSX. And with every single thing down to the memory controllers let's say 2 bil? Versal does 60 billion.

@Saito___Yuki I think the most ironic part of this whole thing is the North American plate uses European Electricity Frequencies while the European plate uses the North American one.

Hope springs eternal. For the record Mobile FeliCa has been “global” (pre-installed) on iPhone since 2017. Would be nice if Pixel and other capable Android devices join the fun.

@video_link @Kanjo Pixel phones all of them since 6 are Felica compatible but they don't want to turn it on unless you bought the phone in Japan but that then comes with other problems like the shutter sound for the camera being always on.

@Kanjo I would literally just buy the Pixel 11 Pro if they actually made this. I have a 7 Pro now and I love it but what I'm seeing in Pixel 9~10 isn't filling me with confidence that I'd buy an 11 or 12 when the time comes. So I sure hope this is real.

@rind_guardian @SlopHq Japanese construction is done by Japanese people usually, but especially sensitive stuff like urban rail. Japan has some of the most expensive urban land on the planet when it comes to urban.

@SlopHq I'm guessing also construction workers in the US have to be paid a good deal more than construction workers in India

the us pays $390 million per kilometer to build urban rail. spain pays $120 million. india pays $80 million. new york city pays $2.1 billion. same trains. same tracks. same physics. but we added a decade of environmental review and a guy who's concerned about shadows

@billyhollis And how many years will this take them? I have serious doubts this will happen on Windows 11 probably their next iteration, but that thing is probably so bloated with AI and so far in development they'd have to restart the entire thing.

Valve has updated its Steam pricing tools for developers. They now offer three ways to set regional prices for games: - Simple currency exchange rate - Purchasing power parity (based on what people can actually afford) - A mix of multiple data sources For a $60 USD game, this can mean very different prices in other countries, like €51, €43, or €62 in parts of Europe. The change is optional. Existing games stay the same unless updated.

@JackDangerDude @Pirat_Nation They won't Croatia has even lower wages and we've been stuck with this shit since the the moment they added Euros. Minimum wage was below 500€ and we had 60€ games.

@XerXcho @Pirat_Nation It's not change they still get to dictate prices. This is just a guideline for indies basically. No big studio is going to follow these.

@Pirat_Nation Sounds like a good change. Always seemed dumb why gamea are 70$ and 70€ at the same time. Clearly not equal.

Valve has updated their pricing conversion tools that include three different methods for game devs to choose. One is simple currency exchange, the second uses public data about the avg purchasing power, and the third uses multiple data sources. Read more below Credits @SteamDB

@GearoidReidy I will never buy the water excuse. Everything could have been ready before it. The part through Shizuoka is so tiny they could have built from Tokyo > Kofu and then from Nagano to Nagoya and let it sit. They didn't start the Kofu station construction until 2 weeks ago.

Japan's maglev was meant to enter service next year, but a number of factors held it up -- including the spurious complaints about the impact on Shizuoka's water supply from the ex-governor. Now it's back on track (hah!) and could begin service in 2036 nikkei.com/article/DGXZQO…

@cfryant You are aware that everyone who built that Internet there failed right? It was only when the entire thing imploded took billions of dollars with it that it actually became something useful slowly over time. It wasn't until smartphones hit the scene that it became as it is today
