It's just because we're all used to seeing the regular wheel base version all the time. This is quite the comparison but it was the same for me and the Bugatti Chiron compared to the Chiron Super Sport. I originally did not like the look of the extended rear end, but after seeing it more frequently I really grew to like it. I've never seen a YL in person yet but I'm looking forward to it.

Is it just me who loves the design of the long model Y more?

My nephew brought his new girlfriend over to the house today for July 4th. She saw the Tesla in the driveway and told me how much she loves them and wants to get her own one day. I asked if she'd heard of self-driving. She had, but never experienced it. Fifteen seconds later we are on the road with her in the supervisor's seat and me in the passenger seat. She absolutely loved it and never intervened! It has gotten that good, where someone who has never experienced it, can use it for the first time and have no fear. Looking forward to seeing her get her own Tesla soon.

Tesla did it. 👌🏻 Only for AI3 cars for now it seems, but it should be available for HW4 cars soon.

The solution is really simple but would anger a lot of people so Tesla doesn't do it. Tesla obviously knows which vehicles have the port in the suboptimal location, and could disable them from certain charge locations. My theory is to only restrict them from V3 Superchargers when there is a V4 Supercharger near by. This shouldn't upset anyone since they already can't use older Superchargers as it is. Plus this would still allow those owners to travel to rural areas where no V4's are around. It wouldn't matter to others anyways since those chargers probably aren't used very often. I can't imagine Tesla has any plans for this however. They seem to just be building V4's and hope to out grow the V3's so the problem fades away. Manufactures are also seeming to wake up and put the port in the correct location now like the Rivian R2 or the Kia EV6.

@JordanEVGuy To this day Rivian still uses this image to demonstrate their vehicles work the with Supercharger network. These companies showcase blocking two charging stalls as if it's some sort of feature.

@elonmusk @stevenmarkryan It took them a while to come around on the NACS connector. Perhaps we might see something similar happen with FSD in the future.

@Geiger_Capital That's insane to think about. If we rapidly prioritized medical care and could double the human lifespan for our lifetime, there is so much more we would be able to see. Crazy world we live in. People seem to love the bad so much they never stop to notice the good.

@SinaiLawFirm Literally. I do not care how small or nice of a residence I live in. The thing I care about the most is a garage to charge my car, second is a half decent location. Today's building practices and codes have made the cost of creating something like that through the roof.

I know I joke around a lot but real talk if every big American city had extremely cheap housing option available to the masses ($400/bedroom per month) the country will be unstoppable

@wholemars I would need Sentry/Dash cam mode as well. If the vehicle has all four of those things (with NACS at the driver side rear) I would consider getting a different vehicle other than a Tesla. Until that day comes, I plan to own a Tesla for life.

Rivian should simply license FSD from Tesla With an NACS port and FSD support, millions of Tesla customers would consider one. Without it, it’s not an option for me and many others. You will burn billions of dollars and years of time trying to come out with something that is equivalent. Preserve your capital and focus on ramping R2. There’s always an opportunity to vertically integrate in the future when you’re ready to do so.
