NYY has confirmed (apparently Delta force as well) what Iranian sources were already reporting — after the WSO was rescued, two US C-130 transport planes that were supposed to carry the Delta Force commandos and the airmen to safety got stuck on the ground at a remote base inside Iran. Three new planes had to be flown in to extract everyone. The two disabled C-130s were then deliberately blown up by US forces rather than allow them to fall into Iranian hands. Though Iranian sources claim they destroyed the big birds. Photos circulating from Iranian sources — allegedly taken before the destruction — show the aircraft on the ground. The black smoke rising over the Zagros in daylight is what’s left of them. Iranian sources claim they destroyed the planes. The NYT says the US blew them up themselves. On this occasion the credibility gap between those two accounts does not favour Washington. F-15E down. One A-10 destroyed. Two Black Hawks hit. Two C-130s blown up on Iranian soil. Both crew recovered. Trump called it the most daring rescue in US military history. That’s one way to describe it. The new measure of victory for the Epstein coalition? Time to declare mission accomplished then tuck tail and run?

Trump just published his longest? Truth Social post of the war. The objective has changed. “WE GOT HIM! My fellow Americans, over the past several hours, the United States Military pulled off one of the most daring Search and Rescue Operations in U.S. History… This brave Warrior was behind enemy lines in the treacherous mountains of Iran, being hunted down by our enemies, who were getting closer and closer by the hour… WE WILL NEVER LEAVE AN AMERICAN WARFIGHTER BEHIND! The fact that we were able to pull off both of these operations, without a SINGLE American killed, or even wounded, just proves once again, that we have achieved overwhelming Air Dominance and Superiority over the Iranian skies…” The war that was supposed to end Iran’s nuclear program, collapse the Islamic Republic, install a friendly government, and result in the total military defeat of Iran has produced its greatest declared victory — retrieving the crew of a jet Iran shot down. Cast your mind back. The Epstein coalition’s objectives on February 28th: regime change, nuclear disarmament, Iran defeated militarily, Gulf states secured, Israeli dominance cemented. 37 declared victories later... BAPCO on fire, EGA shut for a year, Kuwait’s power grid hit, Saudi exports halved, Hormuz still closed, Dated Brent at $141, the global economy fracturing, US bases being struck from Iraq to Kuwait with US military being evicted from the region, much of Israel burning under Iranian missile waves, and Europe quietly cutting its own deals with Tehran behind Washington’s back.

No sovereign state hosts a foreign military base on its territory without having negotiated away part of its sovereignty in exchange for protection, or it is simply under occupation as a result of a previous conflict. The only remaining vestige of sovereignty for these states is the theoretical ability to close those foreign bases, an extremely rare occurrence in practice.
Bader Al-Saif بدر السيف@bmalsaif

The US bases in the Gulf do not turn the Gulf into satellite states or strip their sovereignty. They’re part of mutually agreed upon defense partnerships similar to those between the US and other states in Europe and Asia. That said, this model requires a reset and the same is true regarding the Gulf’s relationship with Iran.

💢 BREAKING: Drone strikes hit multiple government and energy sites in Kuwait, causing damage and fires, according to state news agency KUNA. ➤ The Ministries Complex in Kuwait City sustained “significant material damage” after a drone strike, the Finance Ministry said, adding no injuries were reported. Staff were ordered to work remotely and visitors barred. ➤ A separate drone attack hit the Shuwaikh Oil Sector Complex (OSC) near Kuwait City, sparking a fire. The Kuwait Petroleum Corporation said emergency crews responded quickly and no casualties were recorded. ➤ The OSC is the landmark administrative headquarters for Kuwait's petroleum industry, housing the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) and the Ministry of Oil. Located along the Arabian Gulf Coast in the Shuwaikh Industrial area of Kuwait City, it is an all-green architectural icon designed by the renowned architect Arthur Erickson.

Hours ahead of Trump’s ultimatum on attacks on Iranian infrastructure, Iranian drones attacked (and set on fire) the headquarters of the Kuwait state-owned oil company KPC and the country’s oil ministry, located in Kuwait City. The message seems clear.

🇮🇷🇧🇭 Moment Iran struck the BAPCO Energies refinery in Bahrain the island’s only refinery, recently upgraded to 400,000 barrels per day capacity, now on fire. BAPCO has declared force majeure on its entire group operations. Force majeure means Bahrain’s state oil company is legally telling the world it cannot fulfil its contracts because events beyond its control have intervened. That event is an Iranian missile. QatarEnergy made the same declaration after its LNG facilities were struck. EGA in Abu Dhabi shut for 12 months. Kuwait’s petroleum ministry hit. Saudi exports down more than 50%. One by one, Iran is forcing every Gulf state that chose Washington’s war to declare it cannot meet its obligations to the world. In legal language, that’s force majeure. In plain language, that’s the bill arriving.

We are living in savage times, marked by a brutal regression in humanitarian and civilizational standards. This regression is deepening in Western democracies, steadily eroding individual freedoms and freedom of speech This is most evident in the banning of social media accounts, death threats, and the growing normalization of assassinating academics and political leaders in the international arena. We will likely see this becoming even more common in future conflicts and international disagreements.

Vitamin D is not a vitamin. It's a steroid hormone synthesised in the skin from cholesterol via ultraviolet light, then converted in the liver and kidneys into its active form, where it regulates gene expression in virtually every tissue in the body. We called it a vitamin because we discovered it while studying deficiency diseases in people who didn't go outside. The name stuck. The modern guidelines, designed for people who eat seed oils, avoid animal fat, apply SPF 30 before going to the letterbox, and work in offices under fluorescent lighting, are very effective at suppressing it. You need cholesterol (eat fat) and sunlight (go outside) to make it. We've managed to pathologise both.

🇮🇷🇺🇸 France, Spain, Italy, the Philippines are all signing agreements with Iran over oil tanker transit through the Strait of Hormuz. Meanwhile China, India and Russia get a free pass. The Strait of Hormuz is in fact OPEN to the world, except the US, Israel and some EU states.

Nobody cares if women work. But MOTHERS should not say to their children “I could stay home and raise you, but I prefer to be at work. I’m going to pay someone $12/hr to raise you instead.” We created a 2 income trap. Pushing moms into the workforce was a mistake we need to fix.

Potentially massive development. “Brotherly Iraq is exempt from any restrictions we have imposed on the Strait of Hormuz,” Iran’s military spokesman said. Iraq is the Gulf country that has shut in the most crude production capacity at >3 MMbpd—swinging that back would be huge.

The Pentagon is hiding US casualties from the Iran war, The Intercept reports, and the numbers are staggering. An Intercept analysis finds nearly 750 US troops killed or wounded since the war began. CENTCOM has been feeding reporters outdated figures that exclude recent attacks, won't provide a death count, and refused to even confirm how many bases have been hit. A defense official called it a "casualty cover-up." The real picture: at least 15 killed, 520+ wounded — and that doesn't include 200+ sailors treated after a fire aboard the USS Gerald R. Ford, or thousands of contractors. Iranian strikes have forced US troops off their bases entirely, retreating to hotels and office buildings across the region. An Iranian drone already hit a luxury hotel in Bahrain wounding Pentagon employees. Former CENTCOM commander Gen. Votel warned this "could turn civilian infrastructure into military targets." Retired generals are now speaking out: the Pentagon knew Iran would retaliate against US bases and did nothing to harden them. "The failure to invest in hardened infrastructure was a choice," one analyst told The Intercept. Hegseth prayed for troops at a Pentagon press conference. A defense official's response: "Why didn't Hegseth protect them?"
