In this format, Michigan and Ohio State will just be able to rest their starters in The Game knowing they will both already have clinched spots in a 24-team playoff. This would be the complete and utter ruining of a once sacred regular season.
Yahoo Sports@YahooSports

The American Football Coaches Association's Board of Trustees are expected to release its decision to support a 24-team playoff and the elimination of league title games, per @RossDellenger. The most-discussed 24-team CFP model includes an at-large bracket determined by CFP rankings, an automatic berth for the Group of Six leagues and first-round campus games for seeds 9-24.

@MericaCulture 90s and 00s was peak. My Saturdays were spent watching CFB for more than 20 years. I began losing interest around 2017 and now I cannot remember the last time I watched.

Maybe I'm just getting old, but college football is dead. If you're still watching, you're doing so purely out of habit. Give me the BCS era with the geographically driven Power 5 conferences, no NIL, and no unlimited transfers over this current slop driven by TV money.

In a 24-team playoff, both these teams are comfortably in, with a bye. This game means nothing. In 2013, it’s widely regarded as one of the most dramatic football games of all time.

I’m an HVAC guy and mechanic by background. There’s still a massive amount of disruption happening as you’ve got all these college graduates and laid off software engineers and all of these incredibly talented and technical people suddenly looking at your industry as the only lifeboat left. The bar for talent will get much higher, competition for employment will get much higher, and it’s not like there’s magically going to be 5x the air conditioners and heaters and pipe and wire to run suddenly. It’ll be the same pool of work and a massive bar raise for what it takes to do it, and way more people trying to get in. It’s cool and all being on a lifeboat once you have distance from the sinking ship. But remember titanic with the boats trying to get off and the people just mobbing them and killing each other to get on? That’s what’s coming for the trades. If you have a head start, don’t rest on your laurels. A hungry laid off engineer will come and take your job and eat your lunch.

I am astounded by the number of millennial families who moved to Dallas, bought a home, then turned around and sold the home to move out of Dallas, in less than a 5 year time span Is Dallas just super transient or is this a post-pandemic phenomenon happening everywhere?

Dallas, like other Sunbelt boomtowns, is a high out-migration region. I haven’t checked in a while but it used to be that more people moved out of Dallas metro every year than did out of Chicago. People don’t believe me when I say that but it’s true.

@Molson_Hart The highways in DFW are like a foreign country. I hate going up there now at the Metroplex is a prime example of America's Brazilification. (But every building and home has AC so that's not something to worry about.)

Let me explain Dallas(s) 1. The summers are unbearable and this cannot be understood without moving there. You can't just visit Texas for 3 weeks in peak summer and understand it, because that's not why it's bad. It's bad because it's late October and it's 90+ and you're questioning your sanity as to whether not it will ever end. 2. Dallas' culture, superficially seems good, but once you dig down... 3. Dallas living is about the airport. You save money in Dallas and then fly out all the time because being in Dallas is rough. Airline travel in the US has declined a lot, so this way of life works less well. 4. The driving. It's dangerous. You need a tank and you're going to be sitting in it all the time. Dallas sort of seems like a city but it's not really. It's more like an area. 5. You can trade 3% state income tax for better weather, more trees, and fewer problems. I think Dallas is a solid place to live in a bigger house with A/C and grind for money aggressively for a short period of time and then move out of. Other than that, unless you are tied down there (job, family), I can't recommend it.
