Smart political move. Takes it to the Rs. Everyone is seeing Trump fall apart in real time. Make his party vote, or at least refuse to vote on this measure, and keep the issue live for the election. Hungary seems to be inspiring people here too.

This just isn't true. The D base has been motivated by Trump. The conservative base (by which I mean the GOP's reliable voters) still turns out. But the new MAGA voters don't. My hypothesis is that they don't because they aren't conservative in the same way as traditional GOP voters. The latter did care about social conservatism, the rule of law and limited government. The former care about immigration, crime and government benefits targeted toward them. They aren't really socially conservative although they do oppose the cultural left. Because it is a populist movement, it's more about what they are against than what they are for. That's generally the way populism works. It's voters getting angry about being ignored.

@RickEsenberg It’s a turnout issue and always has been. Historically Republicans have had poor turn out in non-presidential elections. Not top of mind to people for some reason. Dem base is more motivated to vote. Money spent also matters to a certain extent.

It is common for the losing side in an election to say that we need to keep doing the same thing - only harder. Here are the facts. Since Trump took office, the GOP or conservative candidate in statewide races for Senator, Governor, AG or Supreme Court has lost 11 of 13 races. Most, if not all, of these races became referenda on the Trump/MAGA brand. Particularly at SCOWIS, the candidates almost don't matter since most voters don't know them or understand how to evaluate them. Populism never lasts and is clearly turning off potential GOP/conservative voters. You should learn from populist frustration, but it's time to move on.

Tough loss for conservatives in Wisconsin. It will continue to be this way until we have a more level playing field. From 2018 on, liberal candidates have outspent their conservative opponents by significant margins. Not surprisingly, that has now given liberals a 5 - 2 majority on the Wisconsin Supreme Court.   All the more reason that we need Tom Tiffany to win in November. An open seat for Governor, along with a contentious primary amongst the Democrats, gives him a real opportunity for victory.  Tom needs to get out and define himself fast (before the left does) while the candidates are fighting amongst themselves. He and his wife started a small business years ago giving boat tours in northern Wisconsin. They had to count every penny to make it work. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a Governor who counts every penny - and understands those who need to do so just to pay the bills each month.  With enough resources to guarantee a level playing field, Tom can then share his plans to help everyone in Wisconsin afford to live and thrive here. A solid conservative is in the best spot to help lower the costs of food, fuel, housing, electricity, higher education, taxes, and healthcare. Tom Tiffany can win, but all of us conservatives need to help him out—with donations, on the doors, making calls, posting online, etc. We can win, but it will not be easy to overcome the financial advantages we’ve seen in the past six elections for the Wisconsin Supreme Court.  It will take a focused, team effort. Hopefully today was a wake up call for those sitting on the sidelines in my state. It’s time to save Wisconsin!

That’s 28% voter turnout vs 80% in the general election. Republicans do not turn out for spring elections or midterms. Wisconsin is going to get another liberal Supreme Court justice because of this in August. Nobody (Republicans) are engaged. Got to give it to the Dems they always turnout.

I've seen quite a few videos of ICE at airports this morning. You know what's missing from all of them? Deranged leftists blowing whistles, hurling expletives, and attacking law enforcement officers. You know why? Because the organizations that pay people to be domestic terrorists on the streets of Minneapolis and other blue cities can't create those astroturfed violent mobs inside an airport. Sorry, DICK Blumenthal. Your fever dream of violence in airports seems to be missing its funding.

I just voted to fund TSA. No gimmicks, no strings attached. Republicans voted no and blocked our bill.
