@ciaranodeorain The race comments are odd too. We know Skelton likes a handicap job but he’s spiked in performance in a grade 1 so there isn’t really anything to try and investigate right?

@SamCaney Its just a run of the mill race now unfortunately. Used to be really special but we are just seeing same horses win it and it'll only get worse. Boring. Bring on the flat now.

Great to see THE CLONMEL KID win at Newcastle today! 😍 🏆 Well done to Philip Kirby and his owners, he battled on strongly today. The first horse I ever owned, well done boys, brilliant to see! ☘️

Don’t know what to make of that Bowl Hard to know how IEP would’ve finished Protektorat probably no more than a mid-150s horse these days Spillane’s Tower hated that ground

@ciaranodeorain Very true. May want them to slow down to bring the stamina into a 2m race. Looking at it now I don’t think there’s a real bet in the race. BDA to win is probs the safest bet

@SamCaney I’d say most of Gordon’s prefer soft ground so I don’t think it would help her tbh Then again, better ground over 2m might’ve been more of an issue for her than better ground over 2m4f

Aintree Hurdle Both BDA & TNL should obvs improve for going up in trip But perhaps more importantly, the presence of El Fab will be a big help for BDA, will give her the pace she wants as a galloper Will the quick Cheltenham ground have left its mark on GE’s runners though?

Big chunk of money lost for Mullins there by the fall of Kiss Will, he’ll still pick up Elliot and win the title but that would have made things a lot handier. . The Elliot horses are overall in poor form

Any word on what runners Willie is sending over to Aintree? Am guessing that Lossie goes Punchestown instead but that El Fab goes Aintree Hurdle Il Etait Temps should go Melling IMO, C&D should be much more down his street compared to the QMCC & looks like a very weak Melling

@HorseRacingOnX @RiskForRewards Agree! But I guess ‘cashing in’ is a safe option in terms of a stallion career. He might not of trained on (devils advocate). He was precocious enough and always that risk of not training on

@SamCaney @RiskForRewards That’s where the shame is that COT retired. It’s all a guessing game, would COT continued to improve aswell-would different races and grounds suit one more …we should have had 2years of them battling head to head but Stud pays more

@8_barrows @RiskForRewards Agree! Uk and Ireland seem to be the only countries that care about precocity. Look at kaying rising.

@SamCaney @RiskForRewards 100%. Would love to see more kept in training for many a year. I have always loved Al Aasy and Hamish. They’ve been around more than most jumpers now !

@SamCaney @RiskForRewards And Los Angeles just fell off a cliff (or his level was perhaps flattered as a 3yo). You can see through LA/Ombudsman how much Calandagan improved as a 4yo.

@8_barrows @RiskForRewards Absolutely! I think people get too caught up in 2 yo and early 3yo form. A typical flat horse won’t see there peak at least until there 4yo season. Take ombudsman and calandagan…. Weren’t exactly crack 2 yo’s. Could also say took a while to work out what ethical diamond was

@SamCaney @RiskForRewards Moving his level to one side it is crazy what has happened to some of the horses in that collection of form. Al Riffa has become a stayer and Ambiente Friendly a hurdler ! Just shows it can take quite a few seasons to work a horse out.

@8_barrows @RiskForRewards So true…. Has to be taken with context. Not as simple as beating a 130 horse 2 lengths or whatever. COT was good but I do think he lacked a proper change of gear. Awaiting the pelters now…. 🤣🤣

@SamCaney @RiskForRewards So in that sense it’s really any overused face value comparative that is way more complicated than people make out.

@8_barrows @RiskForRewards My point exactly! Form does have to be taken with context etc…. The day he won the Juddmonte there was an absolute gale of a tail win plus everything was breaking the track record that day. Don’t get me wrong COT was a good horse, I don’t think he was much better than 125 tho

@SamCaney @RiskForRewards Like anything it depends what race you use. Use the Coral E (beating Al Rif 1l) and suddenly Fairy Glen is the best horse in training 😂. Use the Derby beating Ambiente F and he’d have finished mid pack in the Supreme. Clearly the Juddmonte was COTs best. It’s not Calans best run
