I had a deeply unpleasant experience today while interviewing the star cast of the film Maa-Behen, featuring Madhuri Dixit and Tripti Dimri. The media interactions were being managed by MSL India @MSLGROUP_India, the PR agency handling Netflix, the platform on which the film is releasing. Everything was going smoothly until I asked the actors about Ranveer Singh being banned by FWICE for walking out of Don 3. As the actors began responding and I followed up on their answers, a PR representative in the room suddenly screamed at the top of her voice, “I’m sorry, we will not be taking any more questions on this.” Her tone was so loud and aggressive that not only I, but the entire star cast was visibly taken aback. I objected, but she repeated herself. I reluctantly moved on. A short while later, when I asked @dharnaaaaa331 about the hurtful incident where paparazzi asked her to step aside during promotions while focusing only on Madhuri Dixit and Tripti Dimri, the same PR lady screamed again, even louder this time, and demanded that I immediately wrap up the interview. I requested five more minutes, but she forced me to stop shortly after. These film promotion interviews are recorded exclusively on the cameras of the production/PR team. News channels are not permitted to use their own setups. The clear purpose of this arrangement is to maintain tight control over the content. The PR team can delete any portion they find inconvenient and then selectively share the edited footage with broadcasters. I dare the PR agency and the production house to release the full, unedited footage so everyone can hear the rude and completely unacceptable manner in which the interview was shut down on legitimate, ongoing issues in Bollywood. While news channels must also introspect on why we continue to accept such restrictive arrangements, the bigger concern is the increasing high-handedness of PR agencies. Since when did they assume the role of gatekeepers who can bully, scream at, and rudely silence journalists? This particular agency takes pride in its association with the French group @PublicisGroupe One would expect far more refined and professional conduct from a company linked to such a global name. What surprised me the most was how the entire star cast — including the iconic Madhuri Dixit — appeared completely controlled by this obnoxious PR machinery. Dear @netflix @NetflixIndia @NetflixFR - it is worth reflecting on the kind of people you entrust with promoting your films. @MadhuriDixit @tripti_dimri23 #Netflix #MaaBehen #MadhuriDixit #TriptiDimri

Most cricket ads sell products. We wanted to sell the dream of building. So we handed India’s biggest spotlight to 30+ founders. An 8-year-old starting up. A 90-year-old starting again. People who broke barriers and built anyway. And in doing so, they created jobs, solved real problems, and moved India forward. But this was never meant to be just an ad campaign. It’s a movement to make builders visible, celebrate ambition And remind the next generation that the coolest thing you can do right now is build for India. To every founder out there rewriting the rules - this one’s for you. And whoever said founders can’t act… wait for the ad breaks 👀 They might just inspire you to build something too. Manoj Madhusudhanan took a ₹1.86 crore home loan from ICICI Bank. As collateral, he handed over his original property documents. Every homebuyer does this. You have no choice. ICICI Bank sent those documents to their storage facility in Hyderabad via courier. Somewhere on that journey — Bangalore to Hyderabad — the documents vanished. Gone. Originals. Irreplaceable. When Manoj found out, ICICI Bank had one answer: it was the courier company's fault. Not ours. He went to the Banking Ombudsman. They told ICICI to publish a public notice about the loss and pay him ₹25,000 for the trouble. Twenty-five thousand rupees. For losing the original documents to a ₹1.86 crore property. Manoj sent a legal notice. ICICI denied any mistake. He went to the NCDRC. The apex consumer court looked at the facts. The bank had taken custody of the documents. The bank had chosen the courier. The bank could not hand that liability to a third party and walk away. ICICI Bank — India's second-largest private bank, ₹9 lakh crore in assets — was held liable. Ordered to obtain reconstructed certified copies, issue an indemnity bond, and pay ₹25 lakh in compensation. One loan. One lost file. One bank that blamed the courier. Save this — if your bank loses your original property documents, they cannot blame their courier agent. The documents were in their custody. The liability is theirs. File at your district consumer forum. The law is on your side. (Source: Manoj Madhusudhanan vs. ICICI Bank Ltd. | NCDRC | LiveLaw, September 2023)

Her name is Rupan Deol Bajaj. She was an IAS officer of the Punjab cadre serving as Special Secretary Finance. One of the most senior women in the Punjab government in 1988. On the night of July 18, 1988, she attended a dinner party at the Chandigarh residence of Punjab’s Financial Commissioner SL Kapoor. Also at that party was KPS Gill. The Director General of Police, Punjab. The most powerful police officer in the state. Around 10 pm, he walked up to her and ordered her to get up and come with him. She turned to leave. He slapped her on her posterior in front of the other guests. She filed a complaint the very next day. What followed was 17 years. The police submitted a report favouring Gill. The High Court quashed her FIR. The same officer who reviewed her complaint had already given an opinion in Gill’s favour before acting as a judicial officer in the same case. She went to the Supreme Court. Her own mother told her to cry over it privately and move on. She received death threats. She was given punishment postings. She fought anyway. In 1995, the Supreme Court restored her complaint and directed prosecution. In 2005, the final verdict came. Gill was convicted under Section 354 and Section 509 of the IPC for outraging her modesty. His three month jail sentence was converted to probation. He was fined Rs 2 lakh. She declined to accept the compensation. The court ordered it be donated to women’s organisations. In 2010, she wrote to the government demanding they take back the Padma Shri given to KPS Gill. The man who slapped her was never jailed for a single day. The woman who fought him spent 17 years doing it. Follow for real stories India never makes headlines about.

How is this acceptable, @airindia ? Two of us booked a direct flight from Delhi to Singapore scheduled for 3rd May at 00:40 AM. The tickets were booked nearly two months in advance. Today, immediately after completing web check-in, we received a message stating that the flight has been rescheduled to 4th May and is no longer a direct flight. When we contacted customer support, we were given only two options: either travel on 4th May (arriving at 18:30) or cancel and book afresh. If we travel on 4th May, we will miss our important bookings. If we cancel and book afresh, we will have to pay nearly four times the original fare. What makes this even more frustrating is that we can still see the same flight, along with other options around the same time, available on @makemytrip. However, we were told these cannot be offered to us because they fall under premium economy. This leaves us in an extremely difficult position. We have a clear requirement to reach Singapore on 3rd May – how exactly are we supposed to manage under these circumstances? @RamMNK

2 months ago, a buyer from Delhi came to our factory. He walked through the entire setup, criticized whatever he could, and spoke like he was going to do big business with us. He liked our product, asked for samples and full specs, and we shared everything without delay. We quoted INR 410 for 10,000 pieces, payment in cash. Then the calls started. Not with clear decisions, but with small complaints about things that did not really matter. While we responded properly and took in whatever feedback we could, we also made it clear what we could change and what we could not. Then came the haggling. He countered at INR 390. After some back and forth, he finally confirmed at INR 400. He said “done,” asked for the PI, we sent it, and then he went completely silent for a week. No calls, no messages. During that same time, all material costs went up. Then suddenly, he called again and said he was ready to confirm, but now he wanted only 3,000 pieces and also asked for a 4% cash discount (even though the quotation was already based on cash), as if he was doing us a favor. Work was slow and we had some stock, so after thinking it through, we agreed to a 1% discount and sent a revised PI. Once again, silence. After a few days, he said he was in China and claimed prices there were cheaper. I knew that was not true, so I simply wished him well and told him to buy from China. But he came back again, saying he still wanted to buy from us. This time, he asked for a full cost breakdown including plastic, electronics, labor, packing, and our profit. We work transparently, so we shared it. Then he said our profit was too high and demanded that we reduce it. We told him cost is a fact, profit is our principle, and flatly refused. He kept pushing. He asked for detailed molding costs like plastic rates, cycle time, burn loss, and labor. That was the point where it was no longer about business. It was about control. So instead of arguing, we calmly told him the goods were sold out. He got livid, started shouting, and said we had no right to sell the goods since he had already “confirmed the order.” I stayed calm, said sorry, and ended the conversation. Now, even if he comes back ready to pay more, I will not supply to him. I have seen how these deals end. They always bring stress, delays, and problems. Some business gives you money but takes away your peace. Over time, you learn it is better to do less business with the right people than chase more business with the wrong ones. I would rather have fewer orders, better sleep, and a clear mind than deal with this kind of harassment.

Dr Mouth Matters
Dr Mouth Matters@GanKanchi·
Confessions and realities 42M, 55LPA I am a 42-year-old man with a senior job in IT. I have a house in Chennai, a supportive wife, and two children. On paper, everything about my life looks perfect. I have achieved all the things society says a man should achieve. In my twenties, life felt different. I had friends to spend time with. We would hang out at Marina Beach and Besant Nagar beach, watch movies at Rohini, Udayam, and Kasi theatres, and ride around Mount Road on my RX100. In my thirties, I had colleagues to talk with over tea breaks. We would discuss apartments, onsite trips, and share random stories about life and work. But now, in my forties, life has turned into a quiet routine. My phone rarely rings for anything personal. Most calls are about office work, bank alerts, or someone from home asking me to pick up milk on the way back. The loneliness of a man in his forties is unusual. I am not physically alone, but I often feel like a machine. When I enter my home, I am simply “Appa.” I am the person who pays school fees, fixes the Wi-Fi, and handles repairs. My wife is busy with her work and the kids. My children are teenagers now, living in their own worlds and their own rooms. They love me, but they mostly see me as the person who provides comfort and stability. They no longer see me as an individual. At the office, I am the senior person. I am expected to have all the answers. I cannot tell my team that I feel tired. I cannot tell my boss that I sometimes struggle to keep up with new technologies. I must appear confident and strong, even when I quietly worry about the future. Sometimes I drive home slowly from work just to spend a few extra minutes in the car. I listen to songs from my college days. For those fifteen minutes, I am not a manager or a father. I am simply myself again. I realize that I have not had a real conversation about my feelings with anyone in years. My old friends now exist mostly as names on WhatsApp. We send “Happy Birthday” or “Congratulations” messages, but rarely talk. When we meet at weddings, our conversations revolve around our children’s grades or the cars we drive. We never talk about what we actually feel. The hardest part is that I cannot even complain. If I tell my family that I feel lonely, they look confused and say, “But we are all here with you.” They do not understand that a person can be surrounded by people and still feel like they are on a desert island. Society teaches men that if they provide money and security, they have succeeded in life. But no one teaches us how to deal with the silence that comes with it. I have built a beautiful life for everyone around me, but sometimes it feels like there is no space left for me inside it. And maybe… this is what life in your forties feels like.

When God has a plan… From selling bhatura chole at Vivek Public School in 1989, to opening Lawrence Garden Banquet from the back of my house in Amritsar in 1990. In 1991, I chose culinary arts— a decision that embarrassed almost everyone except my grandmother. There were years of humiliation I rarely speak about. Moments that nearly broke me. In 2000, when my banquet was torn down, I almost gave up. Instead, I moved to the United States and started over. Cleaning homes. Selling food on the streets of TriBeCa. Sleeping at Grand Central. Experiencing homelessness at NYC Rescue. Sleepless nights. Being called “Curry Boy” on the 7 train. And still, I kept going. From there… 8 Michelin stars. Then losing myself again. Then starting over—one last time as a promise to my sister—with Bungalow. And now… TIME100 Most Influential People in the World 2026. I’m still trying to process it. The journey continues.

His name was Nitish Katara. He was 25 years old. MBA from IMT Ghaziabad. Job at Reliance General Insurance. A regular young man building his life in Delhi. At college, he fell in love with Bharti Yadav. Her father was D.P. Yadav. Sitting Member of Parliament. One of the most powerful politicians in UP. They were together for four years. Her family knew. Her brother Vikas knew. Her cousin Vishal knew. Nitish received threats. He did not leave. On the night of February 16, 2002, he attended a friend's wedding in Ghaziabad. Bharti was there. Vikas was there. Vishal was there. They danced. They took photographs. At midnight, security guards saw Nitish get into a Tata Safari with Vikas, Vishal, and one more man. He never came back. The next morning, a burnt body was found 80 km away near Khurja. Beaten with a hammer. Diesel poured on him. Set on fire. His mother Nilam identified the body by his hand. Nitish had unusually small hands just like hers. Then the system turned against her. Witnesses changed their statements one by one. Three out of four turned hostile. Even Bharti went to court and said there was no relationship. Just friendship. One witness refused to budge. His name was Ajay Katara. No relation. Just a man who had seen Nitish get into that car that night and could not lie about it. Vikas Yadav banged his fist on the courtroom table and told him he would be buried 100 feet underground. Ajay did not change his statement. For the next 20 years, he lived under 24-hour armed guard. 37 cases filed against him. Bullet attempts. Poison attempts. His life never recovered. Nilam Katara had no political connections. No money like the Yadavs. Just one question that she refused to stop asking. In 2008, the court convicted Vikas, Vishal, and Sukhdev. The Supreme Court confirmed 25 years without remission. Vikas has now served 23 years. He recently got married from jail. He applied for furlough to spend time with his wife. The Supreme Court granted it for Holi this year. Nilam Katara is still fighting. Her son got justice. The men who killed him are counting their last months in prison. But the witness who made that possible lost everything for telling the truth. In India, power does not just delay justice. It destroys everyone who stands in its way. But a mother refused to let it disappear.

Never ever take a Zoomcar. They ruined our trip and left us stranded. What happens when you rent a Zoomcar and the police seize it mid-highway? We had a ridiculous experience with @Zoomcar_India in Jaipur. Last Sunday, we booked a car in Jaipur to drive to Ranthambore. Number plate was masked on the app, so no idea what we were getting. We reached the car and it’s a Gujarat (GJ) white plate vehicle. I felt uncomfortable instantly, but it was too late to change the vehicle - this was the only 7 seater option available in the city. The owner reassured: “No issues. It’s been on Zoomcar for 4 months. Cops won't stop. Take my number if anyone stops you.” Within 45 minutes, we got stopped by the police. They seize the car, take the keys, park it in some random plot and ask us to call the owner. Owner proudly tells them that he’s been renting it out for months and never faced an issue. Police is adamant that this is illegal (and rightly so). The owner needs to visit the RTO and pay up. Any commercial vehicle playing for that long in RJ needs to pay Road Tax here + convert to yellow plate if used commercially. Road Tax alone would come to around Rs. 1.5 Lakhs. And then the cops just leave. So now we’re just standing there, at 38°C, in a random area off the highway. Owner doesn’t show up. Says it’s a Zoomcar problem and that he'll wait for their legal team to deal with this. Zoomcar support? Useless! “Err, It’s Sunday, our team will come tomorrow. And since your booking is still live, please don’t leave the spot; if any damage happens to the car, it’ll still be your responsibility.” Tomorrow??? And don't leave the spot??? We’re stuck in a live police situation and your solution is wait till tomorrow? We stood there for almost 2 hours before we could even figure out what to do next. Because of this: – Missed a ₹28,000 safari – Paid ₹12,000 extra for last-minute transport – Entire day gone After all this and 7 days of escalations, Zoomcar calls and says they’ll “refund the booking amount.” Think about this. No one would know the legalities of vehicle rules better than them. Yet, they listed this. And then abandoned us mid-crisis. And honestly - what if this happened at night, to a woman travelling alone? You hand over an illegal car and then disappear? I've been chasing Zoomcar for a week now. Let's see where this ends. @Deepankar8 @Zoomcar__India @nch1915 @jagograhakjago

I am the VP of Workforce Economics at Oracle. We are worth $420 billion. On Tuesday, we sent 30,000 employees a termination email at 6 AM. Not 9. Not business hours. Six in the morning. They woke up to the word "eliminated." The email came from "Oracle Leadership." Not a manager. Not a name. Oracle Leadership. It said: "We are grateful for your dedication, hard work, and the impact you have made." By the time they read the word "grateful," their access to email, files, and Slack had already been revoked. The gratitude was the last Oracle communication they received. We did not eliminate the roles. We eliminated the salaries. In the same fiscal year, we filed 3,126 H-1B petitions to hire foreign workers. 436 this year alone. The roles are identical. The pay is not. An H-1B software engineer earns $87,000. The domestic median for the same work is $106,000. Eighty-three percent of H-1B workers are classified at entry-level wages for senior positions. The industry calls this a skills gap. It is a pay cut that requires a passport. The visa is tied to the employer. If the worker leaves, they lose their legal right to remain in the country. If they negotiate, they risk the same. If they organize, the sponsor declines to renew. That is retention. Our revenue this quarter is $17.2 billion. Up 22%. Net income up 95%. We have $553 billion in committed future contracts. Up 325%. These are not the numbers of a company that needs to lay anyone off. We took a $2.1 billion restructuring charge. That is the cost of the gratitude. It frees up $8 to $10 billion in annual cash flow. That cash services $156 billion in AI data centers we are building. Starting 2028, OpenAI pays us $82 million per day. Larry Ellison is worth $189 billion. He pledged $51 billion in Oracle shares as collateral for the Stargate AI venture. Announced at the White House. The stock rose 4% on Tuesday. The day of the 6 AM emails. Wall Street did not see 30,000 people. They saw the margin. Amazon laid off 30,000 since October. Filed thousands of H-1B petitions in the same window. This is not one company. This is the operating model. Fire the salary. Keep the role. Fill it with someone whose legal right to remain in the country depends on your continued sponsorship. Pay them less. They will not complain. They cannot. One employee's father worked at Oracle for 20 years. No phone call. No meeting. An email at 6 AM and a locked laptop. The role is still open. The people we fired are free. The people we hired are not.

Delhi Police have filed an FIR in the FSSAI data leak case and my name has been added wrongly. Everyone knows I only use news sources and I don’t have any confidential information. I only raised issues about food safety, unhygienic conditions and related concerns. I am being falsely involved in this matter. I don’t even know anyone in FSSAI.
