So I'm making a thread of threads/posts that might be interesting or contain little known things, stories, media etc regarding Italy in general, with a focus on my southern homeland

@YIMBYLAND Used to go to this pool place that had an area where you could watch the trains go by. Now it's only regional rail, but it used to have HSR too, it was cool

In 6-12 months when I finish Subway Builder I may open an indie game studio focused on map games with the other Subway Builder devs. If/when this happens what games would you like us to build?

🚨BREAKING – A big loss for Giorgia Meloni in Italy. Voters rejected her in a very important referendum related to the judiciary Recently, Right-Wing governments have started losing elections around the world

@Annatar_I Wonder which European country will be below 1.0? I’m guessing Spain. (I don’t think Ukraine’s TFR counts, that’s obviously an exceptional situation)

It is notable how very low TFR, below 1.0 is something that has only really begun in the last decade, in 2015, not a single nation was below 1.0, in 2020 only 2 nations had a TFR below 1, Taiwan & South Korea, in 2025, 5 countries were below 1.0, by 2030 it could easily be 10.

@bumbadum14 Proving the issue is California and not rail. On that point, brightline is cool but has been completely fucked by the Florida Government excessive middling with the original private plan, ironically

@Empty_America Some hyper intelligent train nerd is probably working as a train conductor making below average wage and made several algorithms to maximize passenger throughput in his spare time. They're happy

@Tweets_of_Oscar Subways should reach into the most rural of areas because people there deserve to have public transit too. It's not the most efficient but then again, if you want to put a dent on car trips this is *still* useful

Klemens von Metternich before the unity of Italy: "Italy doesn't exist, it is only a geographic expression" Today: "Europe doesn't exist, it is only a geographic expression." Don't worry, fellow Europeans. We Italians are used to hearing that. Europe is already a reality. 🇪🇺

@sircalebhammer The neighbourhood in the bottom also has highly detailed lawns while the top one has just half dead grass. This can change but people seem to prefer the fully cut grass Bottom picture also has the road narrow ever so slightly compared to top

I understand that new neighborhoods will not be mature enough to have wonderful canopy trees, duh. But why are they (basically) not planting any trees at all? I think I see four or five baby trees? A new neighborhood rarely looks good, but ones like this will NEVER look good.
