Rejection sensitivity isn't just about our reactions after the fact. It also changes how we interact in the first place because there's a outsized fear that we'd lose something or be hurt in otherwise non-threatening interactions. It puts us on the defensive early and often

Allistic person: [something vague and a bit rude] Autistic person: "I'm confused. Could you clarify what you mean?" Allistic: "Stop picking a fight over this?" Autistic: "I'm sorry, I just don't understand. I'll stop" Allistic people watching: "So passive aggressive..."

Mindfulness is an important skill for coping with rejection sensitivity or the big, fast emotions so common to ADHD. Being able to experience these emotions without them consuming us, gives us the opportunity to pause and get some space instead of responding out of raw emotion

"If you have ADHD reduce distractions." Yeah, that works… to a point. But sometimes removing stimulation actually makes it harder to focus, not easier. Understimulation is a major risk for ADHD'ers and can just as big of a barrier as distraction can be

The difference between our ADHD being a reason for our behaviour vs an excuse is our relationship with accountability. If we are willing to take accountability for our actions and continue to improve ourselves, we aren't making excuses, we're explaining our behaviour

You can't only cope with ADHD by spending more energy to accomplish the same results as other people. That's masking, pure and simple. Actually coping with ADHD has to be sustainable; reducing the energy and executive function we need for success

I swear, any time someone says something to me, my ADHD brain flips a coin between asking "what?" before immediately processing it or just checking out completely

Processing information can be severely impacted by our sensory environment. When our environment is overwhelming or threatening, it can make processing information harder. This impacts our memory, logical thinking, and even our ability to respond

When they make a gamified to-do list app that I don't have to set the deadlines, tasks, or rewards in, I am going to lock in so hard bro
