#aphasiaCREchat I really believe in consumer / client stories. I think they provide that emotional connection and are more likely to make people want to change/improve communication skills and behaviours

Q4 listening to people who know and love someone.. these people will know their loved one’s history. Our identities exist in our stories. Therefore we can learn so much about someone’s values, will and preferences by engaging in stories #aphasiaCREchat

#aphasiaCREchat PPE has challenged all healthcare communication, even for those that would not usually have difficulties. There are people who are more vulnerable than usual and we have needed to get creative. Telehealth has actually been easier/better in some cases

@Neuro_BITE I hear you, and agree. I am interested to hear about the how people have managed to get success with training, confidence etc... Using the Aphasia SCAA training with student SP certainly has positive outcomes on the above @aphasiacre @Neuro_BITE

#aphasiaCREchat Q3 There are foundational health comm skills and there is the extra skill required to support people with additional communication needs that requires training. Comm is everyone's business so engagement at all levels in an organisation is important for change

#aphasiaCREchat Q1 At a clinical level it is important SP (as part of a team) understand and advocate for our clients to ensure they are engaged to the best of their ability in healthcare conversations and their true capacity is realised

#aphasiaCREchat I manage speech pathology & audiology at Bendigo Health. My experience is as a SP working with adults in public health across the continuum. Healthcare communication is critical for safe and high quality care, it’s important we shine a light on this crucial topic
