I believe the purge of “inauthentic” content channels in Youtube is just the first stage where creators will no longer be allowed to publish on major platforms. In the long run, most creators won’t be needed at all. The platforms themselves will generate their own content with AI. Why pay and depend on individual creators? Only content that literally cannot be generated by AI in any way will remain valuable to them. Only moral issues could stop something like this — and as you can see, YouTube has zero scruples, leaving people without their livelihood and no chance to appeal. Big Tech has no scruples whatsoever.

If they weren't trying to be evil, they’d still pay out every dollar that’s already been earned by the creator, just like they always used to. Here’s how it worked before, Google pays creators two months after the revenue is generated. They still do that. And back then, even if a video or channel got demonetized, you still received those two months of pending payments. That buffer gave you time to appeal, fix the issue, or plan your next move without your entire income vanishing overnight. But they didn’t leave it that way. They actively changed the system so that demonetization can now cut off every pending payment immediately, letting them keep the money you already earned. One day you’re building a career… the next day you have zero dollars coming in. And to make it even worse? Because Google pays you two months after you earn the revenue, they’re now taking up to two full months worth of already earned money the second they hit that demonetization button. Sounds pretty calculated and evil to me.

Of course, the changes shouldn't be necessary in the first place but the complete lack of thought towards the income of hardworking content creators is the most egregious aspect of this whole situation.

Reading the emails that demonetised YouTubers have been recieving, it's clear this wave of demonetisation has little to do with AI and more to do with YT subjectively determining the creative worth and value of content. Which is unbelievable. Continued...

First it was my CatbreadMusic channel, and now @youtube has come after my channel of OVER 20 years.. "redban" - saying im a bot channel with "mass produced" content??? I live stream 2-3 times a week, I make video's of ranking Root Beers.. I do tech unboxings? Im guessing AI is working the controls now. This is crazy. @YouTubeCreators any help?

We now depend on a handful of giant corporations that control nearly everything online. And when the rules no longer suit them, they change them overnight and cut you off. No warning. No real recourse. That’s not opportunity. That’s modern-day serfdom dressed up as the “creator economy.” We traded an open internet for convenience. Now we’re paying the real price. If you don’t own your audience, you don’t own your business. You just have temporary permission that can be revoked at any moment. If this pisses you off, share it. Creators need to start talking about this openly. These platforms won’t change unless we make it painful for them — through public pressure or regulation.
